5C-Information Technology Specialist

Location: Columbus, Ohio or Memphis, Tennessee (On site)


About the Role:

We are seeking a versatile and technically skilled IT Specialist to support day-to-day IT operations across a rapidly growing hyperscale and AI-driven data center environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of end-user systems, network infrastructure, and cloud-connected services.

We are seeking a versatile and technically skilled IT Specialist to support the day‑to‑day operation, security, and support of the organization’s IT environment. This position provides advanced end‑user support, administers the Microsoft 365 cloud tenant and associated services, and supports the organization’s on‑premises infrastructure, including servers, virtualization, storage, networking, and backup systems. In addition, this role owns and maintains IT asset and inventory management processes, ensuring accurate tracking, lifecycle management, and compliance for hardware and software assets across the organization.

The IT Specialist will collaborate closely with internal teams, data center technicians, engineering, and security to deliver high-quality technical support and maintain a seamless IT experience across the organization.


What You’ll Be Contributing:

1. End‑User Support & IT Operations

  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support to end users for hardware, software, and access issues
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Windows, macOS, mobile devices, and common business applications
  • Manage user onboarding and offboarding, including device provisioning, asset assignment, and access controls
  • Escalate and coordinate with vendors or managed service providers when required
  • Document incidents, requests, and resolutions in the IT service management system
  • Develop and maintain user documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs)


2. Microsoft 365 & Cloud Infrastructure Administration

  • Administer and support the Microsoft 365 tenant, including:
  • Entra ID (Azure AD)
  • Exchange Online
  • SharePoint Online and OneDrive
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Intune / Endpoint Manager
  • Microsoft Defender (Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Office 365, etc.)
  • Manage identity, access, and authentication mechanisms (SSO, MFA, conditional access)
  • Configure and maintain security, compliance, retention, and device policies
  • Monitor service health and respond to Microsoft 365 incidents and advisories
  • Implement and maintain endpoint compliance and security baselines
  • Support audits and compliance requirements (e.g., SOC 2, ISO/IEC 27001)


3. On‑Premises Infrastructure Support

  • Support and maintain physical infrastructure, including:
  • Servers, storage systems, and network equipment
  • Server room and data center environments
  • Administer virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware)
  • Manage server operating systems and services:
  • Windows Server
  • Linux Server
  • Maintain and monitor core infrastructure services, including:
  • DNS
  • DHCP
  • NTP
  • Certificate services
  • Support monitoring, logging, and alerting systems
  • Maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions
  • Participate in infrastructure upgrades, patching, and hardware/software lifecycle management


4. Asset & Inventory Management

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets, including:
  • End‑user devices (laptops, desktops, mobile devices)
  • Servers, networking, and storage equipment
  • Software licenses and subscriptions
  • Track the full lifecycle of IT assets from procurement to disposal
  • Ensure proper asset assignment, recovery, and decommissioning during employee onboarding and offboarding
  • Support hardware refresh and replacement planning
  • Ensure secure data destruction and asset disposal in accordance with company policies
  • Maintain asset records to support audits, compliance, and financial controls


5. Security, Reliability & Continuous Improvement

  • Apply security best practices across cloud and on‑premises environments
  • Assist with vulnerability management, patching, and system hardening
  • Support security incident response and investigation activities
  • Contribute to IT risk assessments and control improvements
  • Identify opportunities to improve automation, system reliability, and operational efficiency
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date IT documentation, diagrams, and inventories


What Sets You Apart

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in IT operations, systems administration, or infrastructure support
  • Strong hands‑on experience administering Microsoft 365 environments
  • Experience supporting on‑premises server and virtualization platforms
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls)
  • Experience with endpoint management, asset tracking, and IT service management processes
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused mindset


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Intune and modern endpoint management
  • Experience administering VMware, Windows Server, and Linux Server environments
  • Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Exposure to security and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO/IEC 27001, NIST)
  • Relevant certifications (nice to have):
  • Microsoft 365 / Azure
  • VMware
  • Infrastructure or security certifications
