A private equity–backed financial services organization is seeking a Director of Information Security to lead and strengthen its enterprise cybersecurity and risk management program. This leader will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s security strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and protecting critical infrastructure, systems, and data across a highly regulated financial environment. The role will partner closely with executive leadership, technology teams, and compliance stakeholders to ensure the organization maintains a strong security posture while supporting continued growth and operational efficiency.
The Director of Information Security will serve as a key advisor on cyber risk, regulatory readiness, and security architecture, helping the organization proactively address emerging threats while aligning security initiatives with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the organization’s information security strategy, policies, and governance frameworks
- Oversee security technologies and operations, including network security, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and incident response
- Conduct and manage IT risk assessments, security audits, and gap analyses across systems and processes
- Ensure alignment with financial regulatory and compliance requirements such as SEC, FINRA, SOX, GDPR, and other applicable standards
- Develop, implement, and monitor security controls and risk mitigation strategies required in regulated financial services environments
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory inquiries, audits, and security-related examinations
- Partner with IT, compliance, and business leaders to integrate security into enterprise technology and operational processes
- Provide regular risk reporting and security posture updates to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to enhance incident response readiness, threat detection, and overall security maturity
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or equivalent
- Extensive hands-on experience with information security technologies, including network security, endpoint protection, and incident response
- Proven experience conducting IT audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews within regulated environments
- Strong understanding of financial services security controls and regulatory frameworks, including SEC, FINRA, SOX, and GDPR
- Demonstrated experience working within asset management, private equity, or other regulated financial services organizations
- Ability to translate technical security risks into clear business insights for executive leadership
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
