Position Overview
We are seeking a highly capable and self-directed Human Resources Manager to lead and manage all HR functions as a department of one. This role is responsible for the full employee lifecycle and requires a hands-on professional who can operate both strategically and tactically. The ideal candidate thrives in an autonomous environment, builds scalable processes, and ensures compliance while fostering a positive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Administration
Serve as the primary point of contact for all HR-related matters
Develop, implement, and manage HR policies, procedures, and best practices
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems
Payroll & Benefits Administration
Process and manage payroll, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Administer employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, retirement, etc.)
Manage benefits enrollment, renewals, and employee communications
Liaise with external vendors and brokers
Time Off & Employee Records
Track and manage PTO, sick leave, and other leave programs
Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with leave policies (FMLA, etc.)
Maintain HRIS data integrity and reporting
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
Lead full-cycle recruiting efforts (job postings, screening, interviewing, hiring)
Coordinate and execute onboarding programs for new hires
Facilitate new hire orientation and ensure a smooth transition into the company
Offboarding & Employee Relations
Manage employee separations, including exit interviews and documentation
Address employee relations issues with professionalism and confidentiality
Provide guidance to managers on performance management and disciplinary actions
Employee Experience & Culture
Promote a positive, inclusive, and engaging workplace culture
Develop employee engagement initiatives and retention strategies
Act as a trusted advisor to leadership and staff
Policy Development & Compliance
Create and maintain the employee handbook
Ensure policies are current, compliant, and effectively communicated
Stay updated on labor laws and regulatory changes
Equipment & Resource Management
Coordinate ordering and distribution of employee equipment (laptops, supplies, etc.)
Partner with IT and operations to ensure employees have necessary tools and access
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a standalone or small-team environment
Strong knowledge of payroll, benefits, and employment law
Experience building HR processes and infrastructure from the ground up
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
