About Finch
We believe every American household deserves access to counsel in life’s biggest moments. At Finch, we’re building the infrastructure to make justice radically more accessible. Our modern approach to consumer law automates the admin work and puts clients first, starting with personal injury.
In just over a year, we've grown 10x, raised a $20M Series A, and become the pre-litigation partner of choice for top personal injury firms across the country. We believe the best outcomes happen when expert operators and purpose-built AI work together – which is why we handle every step of pre-lit, from intake and claim opening to medical records, lien management, and demands, with humans leading every case.
We’re backed by Sequoia, Redpoint, and the founders & CEOs of generational companies like DoorDash, Ironclad, and Digits. We’re rebuilding how the law serves everyday Americans from first principles, and we’re hiring exceptional operators to help us scale it nationwide.
This Role
Finch Legal's product touches people at their most vulnerable — injured clients navigating a system they don't understand, legal teams under pressure to move fast, and law firm partners who need to trust what they can't always see. Design is how we make all of that feel human. You'll be our first design hire, with a direct line to leadership and a real say in how the product takes shape.
What You'll Do
You'll own design across Finch's entire surface area — product, brand, and the emerging AI experiences in between. This role will grow as the company does; expect to define its scope as much as execute within it.
This role demands someone who can set the design standard from scratch — not refine one that already exists. You'll need range, conviction, and the ability to move fast without sacrificing craft.
Must-Haves
The expected package for this role includes base salary + equity.
As a company dedicated to upholding justice and protecting people in the workplace, we are equally committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment within our own walls. We welcome and support individuals from all backgrounds and lived experiences — regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or veteran status.
We recognize that diversity strengthens our team, enriches our perspectives, and empowers us to better serve our clients and communities. At Finch Legal, inclusion isn’t just a value — it’s a practice.

- Build the internal case management tools that make our legal ops team faster and more capable
- Design law firm-facing portals that give partners real visibility and control over their cases
- Shape client experiences that make a complicated legal process feel clear and navigable
- Define how Finch shows up publicly — brand, marketing site, and visual identity
- Establish our earliest design system, creating a shared language of quality across product, design, and engineering
This role demands someone who can set the design standard from scratch — not refine one that already exists. You'll need range, conviction, and the ability to move fast without sacrificing craft.
Must-Haves
- 4+ years as a founding or sole designer, or 7+ years in a senior/lead design role with broad ownership
- A portfolio that demonstrates strong product design, systems thinking, and visual craft — ideally across complex workflows
- Proven ability to operate in 0→1 environments where the brief is rarely complete
- Ability to work across product, brand, and visual design without a dedicated team around you
- Experience designing for operations-heavy or workflow-driven B2B products
- Familiarity with AI surface design — particularly where trust, clarity, and error states matter
- Prior experience building or contributing to a design system from the ground up
- You do your best work when you're specializing — focused on one design discipline with dedicated peers around you
- You prefer handing off polished specs and having others own implementation details
- You're looking for a role where the brand, system, and design standards are already established
The expected package for this role includes base salary + equity.
- Base salary = $160,000 - $225,000
- 100% coverage for health, dental, and vision.
- 401(k) retirement plan.
- In-office snacks, drinks, and daily team lunches and dinners.
- Flexible PTO (we trust you to take the time you need).
- Intro: An initial call to see if there's a mutual fit.
- Interview: An interview that typically involves a case assignment of sorts.
- Onsite: A visit to our NYC office to interview, meet the team, and have lunch.
