Industrial Estimating Construction Manager
Job Summary
The Industrial Estimating Construction Manager is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for industrial construction projects (such as manufacturing plants, refineries, warehouses, and infrastructure) while also overseeing project planning and execution. This role bridges pre-construction estimating with construction management to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Pre-Construction
Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents to prepare detailed cost estimates
Perform quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, and equipment
Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers
Develop conceptual, preliminary, and final budgets
Identify project risks and cost-saving opportunities
Prepare proposals and assist in contract negotiations
Consolidate labor and material estimates into a summary proposal.
Review all final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to formal quotation.
Serve as a technical resource for estimators in the group to answer questions and improve accuracy across trades
Project Management
Plan, coordinate, and supervise industrial construction projects from start to finish
Develop project schedules and monitor progress
Manage budgets, track costs, and control expenditures
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards
Coordinate with engineers, architects, subcontractors, and clients
Resolve issues, delays, and conflicts on-site
Leadership & Communication
Lead project teams including estimators, field staff, and subcontractors
Provide regular updates to stakeholders and senior management
Maintain strong client relationships
Mentor junior estimators and project engineers
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
Experience
5–10+ years of experience in industrial construction estimating and/or project management
Experience with large-scale industrial projects (e.g., manufacturing, energy, heavy civil)
Skills
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and costs
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam, or similar)
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
Project scheduling knowledge (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project)
Strong leadership and communication abilities
Certifications (Preferred)
Certified Professional Estimator (CPE)
Project Management Professional (PMP)
OSHA safety certifications
Work Environment
Combination of office-based estimating and on-site project supervision
May require travel to project sites
