Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Director to lead engineering strategy and operational execution within a growing manufacturing organization. This role is ideal for a technically strong leader with a startup mindset who can scale engineering capabilities while contributing to the broader operational success of the business. The company is taking on a strategic restructuring, investing in their equipment and machinery assembly business unit with a new facility and new operational structure.

The Director of Engineering will combine technical expertise with operational leadership, overseeing engineering initiatives while supervising assembly and production-related functions. This position is designed for someone with the potential to grow into a General Manager role as the organization scales.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and develop the engineering function, supporting machining, fabrication, and engineered product solutions.

- Provide technical leadership across mechanical, electrical/controls, and pneumatic systems.

- Oversee engineering design, development, and implementation of custom solutions.

- Partner with operations and leadership to ensure efficient processes and scalable manufacturing systems.

- Supervise and mentor engineering staff and assembly/production teams.

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focusing on productivity, quality, and process optimization.

- Establish engineering standards, documentation, and best practices.

- Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning and capacity planning.

- Support project execution from concept through manufacturing to meet quality and cost objectives.

- Act as a cross-functional leader bridging engineering, operations, and customer-facing delivery.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.

- Strong engineering background in manufacturing environments (machining, fabrication, or engineered systems).

- Technical exposure across mechanical, electrical/controls, and pneumatic systems.

- Experience leading engineering teams and supervising cross-functional technical or assembly teams.

- Demonstrated experience with operational processes and manufacturing workflows.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a hands-on leadership style.
