Development Officer
Company Description The Tacoma Rescue Mission is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness and poverty in the Tacoma, WA area. The Mission provides shelter, meals, recovery programs, and supportive services that help guests work toward stability and long-term self-sufficiency. Role Description The Development Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Tacoma, WA, responsible for building and sustaining relationships with donors and partners to support the Mission’s programs. Day-to-day tasks include managing annual giving campaigns, coordinating fundraising initiatives, and engaging with individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners through meetings, calls, and events. The Development Officer prepares proposals, impact reports, and donor communications, while maintaining accurate records in the donor database. This role also involves researching prospective supporters, analyzing giving trends, and collaborating with program and communications staff to align fundraising messages with organizational priorities. The Development Officer represents the Mission at community events and works to strengthen philanthropic support in the local area.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in Annual Giving and Fundraising, with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals.
- Strong Communication skills, including clear writing, confident public speaking, and effective interpersonal engagement with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to Philanthropy and donor stewardship, with an understanding of best practices in ethical and mission-aligned giving.
- Ability to conduct Research on donor prospects, giving patterns, and community resources to inform strategic development efforts.
- Experience in nonprofit development, advancement, or related fields is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency with CRM or donor management software, Microsoft Office, and basic data analysis.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Alignment with the Mission’s values and a genuine interest in issues related to homelessness, poverty, and community support.
