Senior Talent Acquisition Recruiter @ Broaddus | Building Project Management Teams | Purpose-Driven Careers | #AEC #ProjectManagement…
Position Summary
As the Data Management Systems Architect at Broaddus, you are the master planner of our digital infrastructure. We serve as the Owner’s Representative and strategic advocate for facility owners for their capital projects across the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry. In this role, you won't just manage data; you will design the architectural blueprint that tracks the entire Capital Project Delivery lifecycle.
You will lead the design, implementation, and governance of our Medallion Layer Architecture, creating a "single source of truth" that integrates structured ERP financial data with the unstructured document repositories (blueprints, contracts, and schedules) inherent in large-scale construction management. Your work will advanced our capabilities of high-level analytics, AI/ML, and compliance, ensuring our project managers and owners have the insights needed to deliver complex infrastructure projects on time and on budget.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Strategy
Design and own the end‑to‑end medallion layer data architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold), ensuring alignment with business strategy and IT roadmap.
Develop architectural standards, patterns, and best practices for structured (ERP, CRM, PMIS) and unstructured (documents, PDFs, email, images) data sources.
Define governance, quality, metadata, and cataloging frameworks across the data lifecycle.
Assess and select cloud data technologies, storage formats, compute engines, and integration tools to build out an effective technology stack (e.g., Fabric, Azure Data Lake, Snowflake, Databricks).
Lead data modeling for both operational and analytical use cases.
Design data models that reflect the Capital Project Delivery lifecycle, ensuring seamless data flow between Planning, Design, Procurement, and Construction phases.
Incorporate architectural patterns that prioritize "Owner-Centric" reporting, focusing on risk mitigation, budget oversight, and project transparency.
Implementation & Operations
Oversee ingestion frameworks for ERP (Deltek Vantagepoint), project management systems, and operational document repositories (e.g. SharePoint, Egnyte, Teams, Outlook).
Ensure data security architecture, including access control, encryption, data retention, and auditability.
Evaluate and optimize cost, performance, and reliability of the data platform.
Architect the ingestion and mapping of data from AEC-specific platforms (e.g., PMIS, Primavera P6, and BIM environments) into a reliable and accessible data management environment leveraging Data Warehousing and Data Lakes as appropriate.
Develop strategies to link unstructured "Owner's Rep" deliverables—such as meeting minutes, site inspection reports, and change orders—to structured financial project data.
Collaboration & Leadership
Partner with the Data Engineer(s), Business Analysts, and IT operations to ensure architecture is adopted consistently.
Work with leadership and business units (construction operations, finance, executive team) to translate requirements into scalable data solutions and partner with AEC Planning and Project Management professionals to translate construction-specific workflows into scalable technical data solutions.
Provide technical mentorship and establish architectural review processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field.
8+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture or data engineering.
Minimum 3+ years of experience within the AEC industry or a deep working knowledge of Capital Project Delivery as it relates to data management.
Strong experience with cloud data platforms, medallion architecture, data lakehouses, and metadata management.
Hands-on experience with tools such as Azure Synapse/Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks, SQL, Python, ETL/ELT frameworks, and designing semantic models for Power BI or Fabric.
Familiarity with the data structures of AEC-specific tools (e.g., Deltek Vantagepoint, Procore, or similar PMIS/ERP systems used in construction).
Understanding of AI-assisted data workflows, CI/CD dta pipelines and model deployment, and design considerations for integrating unstructured data w/ agentic AI systems.
Deep knowledge of data governance, MDM, security, and compliance frameworks.
Excellent communication skills and ability to drive architectural consensus.
