Clinical Scientist – Rare Kidney Disease Biotech | Boston, MA

Hlx is partnering with an emerging, venture-backed biotechnology company developing innovative therapies for rare kidney diseases. With funding anticipated in the near term and a highly experienced leadership team already in place, this is an exceptional opportunity for an early-career Clinical Scientist looking to accelerate their development within a dynamic biotech environment.

This role offers direct mentorship from an accomplished Clinical Development leader and the opportunity to contribute to two global clinical studies at a pivotal stage of the company's growth.

The Opportunity

As a Clinical Scientist, you will play a hands-on role supporting the design, execution, and oversight of global clinical development programs in rare renal disease. Working within a lean and collaborative team, you will gain broad exposure across clinical development activities and have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact from day one.

This is an ideal position for someone with up to three years of industry experience who is looking to move beyond a large pharmaceutical or CRO environment and join a company where their contributions will be highly visible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the execution and scientific oversight of two global clinical studies.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Biostatistics, Regulatory Affairs, and external partners.
  • Contribute to protocol development, study documents, and clinical study reports.
  • Assist with data review, interpretation, and presentation of clinical findings.
  • Support interactions with investigators, CROs, and key external stakeholders.
  • Participate in cross-functional study team meetings and program discussions.
  • Help drive clinical trial delivery while maintaining scientific rigor and patient focus.

Candidate Profile

  • MSc, PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent scientific qualification.
  • Up to 3 years of industry experience within Clinical Development, Clinical Science, Clinical Research, or a related function.
  • Experience supporting clinical trials within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or CRO environments.
  • Strong scientific foundation and enthusiasm for clinical development.
  • Interest in rare diseases and a desire to learn within a fast-paced biotech setting.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.

Why Join?

  • Rare opportunity to join a biotech at an inflection point ahead of a major funding event.
  • Direct mentorship from a highly experienced Clinical Development leader.
  • Exposure to global clinical development activities across multiple studies.
  • High visibility and genuine opportunities for professional growth.
  • Mission-driven organisation focused on addressing significant unmet needs in rare kidney disease.
