Engineering Director/CTO

A one of a kind, VC-backed deep-tech company is seeking a Chief Technology Officer to lead the next phase of growth in their revolutionary technology build out. What You’ll Do:

• Define and execute the long-term technology vision across hardware, electrochemical systems, and AI-driven automation
• Lead a multidisciplinary engineering and R&D team, spanning mechanical, electrical, chemical, environmental, and physics disciplines
• Drive the research, prototyping, and commercialization of advanced hardware platforms from lab to field deployment
• Oversee system integration, process optimization, and automation, ensuring scalable, manufacturable solutions
• Manage technical strategy, regulatory compliance, and IP stewardship, collaborating with partners, academic institutions, and regulators
• Translate complex scientific principles into practical engineering solutions for industrial applications

Experience:

• Proven leadership of cross-functional engineering teams in high-growth technology environments
• Deep expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, applied physics, and electrochemistry
• Hands-on experience with prototype development, pilot deployment, and scale-up of hardware systems
• Strong understanding of AI/automation integration, process optimization, and advanced control systems
• Experience with regulatory pathways, standards, and technology validation
• Exceptional communicator capable of bridging technical depth with business strategy

Nice to have:

• Ph.D. or Master’s in Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or Applied Physics
• 10+ years in water, industrial process, or electrochemical technology or related hardware-intensive sectors
