Chief Executive Officer

VAX 2 STOP CANCER, a nonprofit working to reduce cancer risk in Alabama through preventive care and education, is seeking an experienced, visionary Chief Executive Officer who will set and execute strategic direction, manage operations and staff, and ensure financial stability.

The organization's mission is to prevent cancer by expanding the use of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine through education, public awareness, and advocacy.

Responsibilities and requirements:

•      Commit to the Mission. Must have a passion for vaccines and preventing cancer.

•      Collaborate with the Board of Directors to identify, create, and implement strategic plans to improve the organization’s mission.

•      Manage daily operations, including compliance, reporting, and program implementation.

•      Drive organizational growth and sustainability.

•      Manage finances through creating and managing the budget, and overseeing all accounting and financial compliance tasks.

•      Exercise responsible financial stewardship.

•      Set and meet fundraising goals in partnership with the Board of Directors to secure financial support from foundations, corporations, and individuals.

•      Create and cultivate relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders.

•      Identify, recruit, train, and develop a talented team of employees who can manage strategic initiatives.

•      Ensure the quality and effectiveness of programs.

•      Adhere to the highest ethical standards, maintain accountability, and comply with all applicable laws.

•      Develop future leadership among the board and the staff, including an orderly executive transition.

•      Help pick and support the Board of Directors.

•      Reports to and is accountable to the Chairman of the Board and the Board of Directors.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

•      Five years of experience within the nonprofit or public service sector, with demonstrated management and supervisory experience.

•      A proven track record in strategic planning, fundraising, and financial management.

•      A Master’s in Public Health, Public Administration, Social Work Administration, or other Master’s degree preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.

Skills:

•      Highly organized and adaptable with the ability to wear multiple hats.

•      Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders, including the board, staff, and community.

•      Strong leadership skills to think strategically and motivate staff.

•      Friendly demeanor, approachable, and enthusiastic about being the public face of the organization.

•      Proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Email, and Google Drive.

•      Experience with a donor CRM.

•      Knowledge of financial statements, budget processes, and accounting.

•      Strong organization and analytical abilities.

Salary and benefits:

•      Salary Range: $62,000-$65,000
