Zimmerman Studio is a small, design‑driven architectural practice based in the easily-accessed East Passyunk neighborhood of South Philadelphia. The firm is known for technically complex renovation projects for college and university clients, with a particular focus on teaching and research laboratories where thoughtful design and strong technical execution must go hand in hand.


Meridia is pleased to partner with Zimmerman Studio in the search for an Architect with 3-8 years of experience to join their collaborative, entrepreneurial team.


Role Description

As an Architect or Architectural Designer at Zimmerman Studio, you will work across all phases of projects, from design through construction, on renovations within complex institutional environments. You will contribute to both design and technical development, coordinate with consultants and contractors, and build strong relationships with higher‑education clients. Everyone at Zimmerman Studio is involved in all aspects of practice, creating a strong platform for you to grow into greater project and firm‑wide leadership.


The firm currently works on a hybrid basis, with team members in the office at least two days per week in their transit‑accessible South Philadelphia studio.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop design drawings, details, and documentation from concept through construction.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, and contractors to resolve technical and design issues.
  • Participate in construction administration, including responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals.


Your Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • 3 to 8 years of professional firm experience, ideally with renovation and technically complex project work in education projects considered an asset.
  • Progress toward architectural licensure, or already licensed.
  • Proficiency in relevant design and documentation software with Revit an asset.
  • Collaborative, hands‑on mindset with the ability to take initiative in a small‑firm environment.
