Role Description The Acoustical Consultant role is a full-time remote position responsible for providing technical expertise in acoustics and noise control for a variety of projects. Day-to-day activities include performing acoustic measurements and analyses, modeling environmental and building acoustics, and preparing clear, data-driven reports and presentations for clients and project teams. The consultant collaborates with engineers, architects, planners, and other stakeholders to develop practical noise and vibration mitigation strategies that support project performance and regulatory compliance. This role also involves reviewing design documents for acoustic criteria, contributing to proposals and scope development, and supporting project management tasks such as scheduling and coordination. The Acoustical Consultant is expected to maintain strong communication with clients and colleagues while working independently in a remote setting.
Qualifications
  • Strong technical background in acoustics, noise control, and vibration, including familiarity with acoustic measurement methods, standards, and modeling tools.
  • Experience applying acoustical principles to buildings, infrastructure, or environmental projects, such as room acoustics, sound isolation, transportation noise, or industrial noise.
  • Ability to analyze complex datasets, interpret measurement results, and translate technical findings into concise, well-structured reports and presentations.
  • Proficiency with relevant software tools (e.g., acoustic modeling, data analysis, CAD or BIM platforms) and standard office productivity applications.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and engaging with clients in a remote environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities, including managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and maintaining quality standards.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Acoustics, Engineering, Physics, Architecture, or a related field; professional certifications in acoustics or engineering are a plus.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, guidelines, and regulations related to noise and vibration in building, infrastructure, or environmental contexts.
