Finance and Accounting Recruitment I Ex-EY
Launch is a certified minority and woman owned staffing firm, focused on direct hire placements in finance and accounting.
Our client is a leading architectural glass and hardware creative products company. They combine glass, metal, and wood with functional hardware to create beautiful, engineered solutions for interior and exterior spaces. From corporate headquarters to high-end hospitality, they turn vision into reality through design, fabrication, and installation.
The Role
Our client is seeking a Finance Director who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves. This isn't just a "numbers" role; it is a critical operational position that sits at the intersection of finance and project execution. You will be the financial backbone of our construction and
installation projects, ensuring that every piece of glass we install is backed by sound fiscal management and risk mitigation. You will work directly with Project Managers (PMs) and executive leadership to manage the financial health of our complex, high-stakes architectural projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Financial Management & WIP
WIP Analysis: Lead the monthly Work-In-Progress (WIP) reporting process, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and identifying over/under billings.
Job Costing: Partner with PMs to track labor, materials, and installation costs against budgets.
Profitability Tracking: Analyze project margins and provide early warnings on potential cost overruns.
Collections & Risk Mitigation
A/R & Collections: Take a "hands-on" approach to managing receivables. You will actively pursue outstanding payments and resolve billing discrepancies.
Lien Management: Oversee the preparation and filing of preliminary notices and lien waivers. Ensure our lien rights are protected throughout the project lifecycle.
Bonds & Insurance: Manage the administration of payment and performance bonds, as well as project-specific insurance requirements (COIs, CCIP/OCIP).
Operational Collaboration
PM Partnership: Act as a financial advisor to Project Managers, helping them understand the financial impact of change orders and scheduling shifts.
Cash Flow Forecasting: Develop and maintain detailed cash flow projections based on project milestones and billing schedules.
Process Improvement: Refine and implement internal controls specific to construction operations to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications
Experience: 8+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, with at least 3–5 years in a Construction, Architecture, or Specialty Trade environment.
WIP Mastery: Deep understanding of Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting and WIP schedules is mandatory.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Netsuite) and advanced Excel skills.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong familiarity with New York construction laws, including lien law and bonding requirements.
Mindset: A "no task is too small" attitude. You are comfortable jumping from high-level strategy to calling a general contractor about a missed payment.
Location: Must be based in the NYC area and able to work with onsite at our headquarters.
