Here’s a simple way to think about it: Not all video ads work the same There are two primary formats: Skippable ads (YouTube, social, pre-roll) Lower cost, but often skipped Non-skippable ads (Connected TV / streaming apps) Higher cost, but guaranteed exposure If your goal is full attention on a TV screen, you’re typically in the second category. Not all streaming inventory is equal Behind the scenes, most campaigns run through a DSP (Demand-Side Platform) and are priced on a CPM basis. Within that, inventory generally falls into four tiers: Open access (free streaming apps) Large scale, lower cost Subscription platforms Higher quality environments Premium content High-demand shows with limited supply Live events (like sports) Real-time, high attention Pricing can vary more than people expect At the source level, CPMs can range significantly depending on: If the agency has a DSP seat, or has to use a reseller Format (skippable vs non-skippable) Platform Content type Targeting layers Which means two campaigns labeled “streaming” can look very different under the hood. Why this matters In many cases, campaigns are reported as a single blended number. That makes it difficult to see: Where impressions are actually running How budget is distributed across inventory types How different formats are being used When evaluating a streaming campaign, it helps to ask: How much of the CPM is media vs fees or margin? If CPMs have fees or margin built in, is there another margin on top? What % is skippable vs non-skippable? Which platforms are actually delivering impressions? Bottom line Streaming isn’t necessarily complicated, but it does benefit from a little more visibility. The more you understand: Format Inventory Pricing structure …the easier it is to align spend with actual outcomes.

The results are staggering Our recent uploaded sales data matched 165 out of 550 customers sold to the delivered impressions from the campaign. Representing a roughly 30% attribution of sales to our streaming advertising campaigns. Let's keep in mind that when we present this data we are not taking 100% attribution. As most dealerships run an omni-channel approach. The beauty is to verify that our campaigns assisted upper-funnel to the advertiser's overall marketing strategy in-market. The power of offline attribution is a game-changer for programmatic.

This challenge for better transparency starts with the media buying process. Dealers do not just need better reporting. They need the right media buy. Granted programmatic is far from perfect when it comes to reporting in the DSP...but we can at least deliver the deals they expect.Vasilios Lambos shared thisOne of the biggest misunderstandings in streaming advertising today is where ads actually run. Many campaigns are sold as “premium streaming TV.” But there’s a big difference between premium streaming inventory and open network, and CTV. Premium environments include platforms like: • Amazon Prime Video • Netflix • Disney+ • Live sports streaming These are the environments most dealers believe they’re buying. But in many campaigns labeled “streaming TV,” ads actually run across open network inventory, long-tail apps, and free ad-supported platforms like Tubi. Both have a place in a media strategy. But they are very different environments. Different audience experiences. Different pricing structures. Different levels of attention. Yet they’re often bundled together under the same label: “Streaming TV.” So the question I’m hearing more often lately is simple: Are dealers buying premium streaming inventory… or just paying for it, only to show on the open network? Because that distinction matters.
