iHeartMedia is currently experiencing a new wave of layoffs affecting various levels of staff in management, programming, and on-air positions across several key markets. The recent cuts have led to the departure of Market President Joyce Wirthlin in Salt Lake City, only ten months after assuming leadership of the cluster. Having joined iHeartMedia back in 1998 as the Vice President of Sales for Talk Radio 105.9 (KNRS-AM), Wirthlin played a pivotal role in overseeing the station's Total Traffic and Weather Network. With a tenure of almost four years as the Senior Vice President of Sales, she transitioned into the Market President role earlier this year. The restructuring of leadership within the cluster remains undisclosed at this time. The ongoing changes within iHeartMedia highlight the company's efforts to optimize operations and consolidate its leadership structure amidst the evolving media landscape.

The biggest shift in my work came from taking pre-production seriously — planning each shot and seeing the final edit long before the camera rolls. It doesn’t limit creativity — it gives it space to thrive. More time to think about what makes a shot exciting, what it requires logistically, and how to maintain consistency and continuity in the story. Not just putting together a “shot list,” shooting as much as possible, and figuring it out in post — but understanding the edit before stepping on set. It saves time, removes guesswork, and gives you the freedom to focus on what actually matters: creating strong, intentional visuals.
