I don’t write scripts for these. I ask questions and listen. The story reveals itself in the interviews - the pauses, the unexpected answers, the moments someone says something they’ve maybe never said out loud before. That’s where the real film lives. This video for WTS Puget Sound was built that way. Real conversations. Real people. Shaped into a story that makes you feel something, and understand why the work matters. Because the most powerful stories aren’t manufactured. They’re discovered. When organizations try to “sound polished,” they often lose what makes them human. My job is to find the human part - and build a narrative around it that connects. If your organization has something meaningful happening inside it, there’s a story worth telling. You just have to be willing to listen long enough to find it.

It feels like Apple dropped accessibility in the new liquid glass design as part of iOS 26. Have Apple reverted to “we did it because it looks nice”? Adjusting overlay element backgrounds to white means the text becomes harder to read with lower contrast. Especially when the screen background is lighter. This is where dark overlays or more opacity tend to work better. Looking through the UI it feels like there’s a lot of added complexity. App icons with the additional border for light and dark icons cause addition distraction. One nice move is definitely the floating UI elements such as navigation in safari. Creating more real estate is fantastic but definitely feels like continued accessibility issues there too. It’s only beta at the moment so I’m sure much will improve but give it a go and share your thoughts! #design #uidesign #ui #ios26 #apple

Disney+ wants you to make your own Frozen sequel. Bob Iger dropped the news on the company's Q4 earnings call that the streaming platform's letting subscribers use AI to create and share short-form videos starring Disney characters. The CEO called it one of Disney+'s biggest changes since launching in 2019, right alongside new gaming features through Epic Games. Disney's having "productive conversations" with unnamed AI companies to pull this off while keeping its intellectual property safe. It’s worth noting that they're currently suing Midjourney for training on Disney's protected IP. It's not alone in this space: startups like Showrunner AI, the self-proclaimed "Netflix of AI," are already letting users craft their own animated shows. #thedailies

AI in production doesn't look like the demos. The demos: prompt in, polished output out. One shot. Magic. What it actually looks like in a design org: Two weeks figuring out which tool gets close enough to your art direction to be worth the cleanup time. Building a prompting library because institutional knowledge needs somewhere to live. Explaining to a contractor why the AI-generated asset still needs a human pass before milestone review. Having the conversation about what "good enough" means when it's background filler versus hero content. The efficiency gains are real. We went from 20 creative assets per quarter to over 300 — same team, same budget. That's the math, not the pitch. But the path wasn't "adopt AI and watch output multiply." It was: map your pipeline, identify where AI compresses time or effort, build a repeatable process, train people to use it, and audit quality continuously so speed doesn't eat craft. The bottleneck was never the technology. It was the workflow around it. Anyone still waiting for AI to be ready is already behind. The question stopped being "is it good enough?" a while ago. Now it's: have you built the process to actually use it?

Generative AI is not at the threshold yet — but the gap is closing faster than most people in production are willing to admit. Adobe commissioned two filmmakers at Sundance to work with generative AI inside traditional workflows. Both approached it as a precision tool, not a replacement. That framing matters — and it mirrors where the technology actually sits right now. I watched a short clip on TikTok built entirely with Kling 3.0. The dialogue didn't have the tinny, synthetic quality that usually gives it away. The acting landed. If I hadn't been looking for it, I wouldn't have caught it. The clip was short — how it holds over two minutes is still an open question. But Google Veo 4.0 ships soon. Every model release narrows that window. In the work we do at HillDave Labs right now — UGC ad creation specifically — the gap between AI output and production-quality footage is measured in months, not years. The brands that understand this trajectory before it arrives will be positioned. The ones waiting for a clear signal will be reacting to it.

Let’s get beyond the hype: I’m curious how folks are using AI in practical creative workflows (if at all?). I am specifically interested in how brand or agency side creatives find their workflows are changing or developing. We’re in a weird time where industry standard workflows for AI haven’t really developed yet, but the tools are starting to mature to a point where they might be useful to creatives in a practical way. So this means we have to build the processes ourselves, which is probably leading to hyper-customized, bespoke systems that work exactly for your use case, which is very interesting to me. (I’m not trying to steal your proprietary pipeline, I’m just trying to get a sense of what the landscape looks like.) Or are you finding that AI hasn’t proved useful to your workflow at all? Feel free to rant at me. What does the future of creative workflows look like to you?

I appreciate Apple's Liquid Glass announcement for pushing interfaces (literally) into a **slightly** different direction, but there's nothing revolutionary about it. And we know from history that when the UI/UX paradigm gets upended, there are those who reimagine things and then there are those who reinvent them. AI will upend the UI/UX paradigm. Apple is reimagining interface shifts. So is Samsung with a foldable phone. But who is reinventing it? That's what I care about. The iPhone wasn’t just a better phone. It was a new interaction model. Touch replaced buttons. Apps replaced folders. Blackberry and Nokia never recovered. Amazon didn’t win with the best voice assistant. They won by building the first true ecosystem for voice. Because when the interface shifts, the hierarchy shifts with it. The next shift isn’t more screens. It’s interaction that lives with the body: gesture, presence, intent. Even more importantly, you should not ignore the shift if your company lives on it. Think of all the photo companies who built web platforms, had distribution, and then had died because Instagram ate them alive by designing for the next interface evolution. If your company lives at the interface layer: media, commerce, productivity, wellness, now’s the time to ask: Are you building for the next interface? And, just as relevant, do you know who is building it?

META | pivots. META is cutting over 1,000 jobs - roughly 10% of its Reality Labs VR/metaverse workforce and shutting multiple VR studios as demand for metaverse products remains weak. The Reality Labs division has recorded circa $70 billion of losses since 2020 and continuing operating deficits, with high development costs for headsets and software driving the cuts. META is redirecting capital and talent toward AI infrastructure and wearable products. A key success has been the Ray-Ban smart glasses, a product reflecting stronger consumer interest and better revenue potential.
