Never could we have imagined the opportunity to co-produce an international event of this magnitude, let alone one that will serve as a primary Olympic qualifier for LA28. Are we a little terrified? Absolutely. But we’re also confident because we have the very best partners behind this effort—starting with the incredible team at World Lacrosse. Together, we’re ready to take on the challenge and create an unforgettable experience for the athletes, fans and our community. In October 2027, Olympic City USA will welcome the inaugural World Lacrosse Sixes Championships to Weidner Field. Thirty-two national teams—16 men’s and 16 women’s—will compete, with five of the six Olympic berths in both competitions decided right here in Colorado Springs. 📅 October 4–10, 2027 📍 Weidner Field 🌍 32 national teams 🏅 A pivotal stop on the road to LA28 As lacrosse returns to the Olympic Games for the first time in more than a century, I can’t think of a more fitting home for this event than Olympic City USA. Chris Reen liked thisI'm fresh off a couple days in Chicago at Local Media Association LMA Fest and turning the page fully to our next big event in DC. There's a lot to get squared away in the meantime- including some forward-thinking across the country as press associations gear up for another no doubt eventful legislative session. The difference this year, though, is a little better alignment on the most challenging topics and more coordination on language and potential threats. Chris Reen reacted on thisChris Reen reacted on thisWe have recently lost two men who were significant contributors to the modern Oklahoma City renaissance. Stanley Hupfeld served as CEO of INTEGRIS Health for over two decades, guiding OKC’s largest healthcare provider through the transition from Baptist Medical into INTEGRIS Health. Stan was an active civic leader, serving as chair of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber and as chair of the United Way campaign. He led INTEGRIS to support Western Village Elementary School, which is now known as Hupfeld Fine Arts Academy. Dan Batchelor was a gifted attorney who in many ways created Oklahoma City’s modern economic development and real estate redevelopment tactics. He authored and defended Oklahoma’s version of TIFs (Tax Increment Financing), which has made possible so many projects, from the Skirvin to the National to the Omni to OKANA. And there really isn’t a downtown OKC building project over the last half century in which Dan didn’t have direct involvement. Dan was also deeply involved in the establishment and growth of what we now know as the Innovation District - the collection of health, research, educational and entrepreneurial endeavors just northeast of downtown. And Dan was one of the original founders of what we now know as the First Americans Museum, and worked to see it come to fruition across three decades. Both men will be missed. We send our deepest condolences to the families of Stanley Hupfeld and Dan Batchelor.

Pirigyi and the United States Under-19 National Team Men’s Eight earned silver in Sunday’s final at the World Rowing U19 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Pirigyi, a Buffalo native who will row at Brown University, rowed from the 7 seat for the U.S. Men’s Eight, which finished second to world power Great Britain, which won gold for the third straight year in 5:33.84. The U.S., operating from the outside lane (lane six) had a tremendous second half of the race to catch and pass Germany for the silver. The U.S. trailed Germany by 2 seconds at the halfway point of the 2,000-meter race but surged to beat them by about 3/4 of a second (5:36.46 to 5:37.22). "I am extremely honored to represent Canisius and the United States on the world stage," Pirigyi said today from Belgium. "To come away with a second-place finish is a product of the work the entire team put in this season and I would not have been able to succeed without the support of my teammates, family, friends, as well as Coach (Jacob) Filby and Coach (Tom) Flaherty." The silver was the best finish for USRowing at these worlds, with the only other medal a bronze. Last year, Isaiah Aljuwani ’25 of Kenmore and Liam Feeney ’25 of West Seneca were part of the U19 National Team Men’s Eight at the world championships in Trakai, Lithuania, where the U.S. finished second in the B Final. The U.S. did not win a medal at last year’s worlds. Pirigyi was selected for the eight after being one of 26 athletes invited by USRowing to the United States Under-19 National Team Selection Camp this summer in Chula Vista, California. Pirigyi is a three-year member of the CHS Senior Eight who was part of 2025 Scholastic National and Canadian National Championships in the Eight, both firsts for the CHS program. He was the senior captain for this year’s team, winning three state championships and helping lead the Crusaders to another spring of outstanding finishes against elite national and Canadian competition. Chris Reen liked thisChris Reen liked thisAfter leaving Oklahoma State University during my sophomore year due to finances, I had always hoped to return - the nagging of work unfinished endured. This week, I completed semester #3 in Spears School of Business - Oklahoma State UniversitySpears School of Business - Oklahoma State University’s PhD program designed for industry practitioners interested in research. I was prompted to return to the classroom after serving on the Federal Reserve Board’s Federal Advisory Council and discovering the significant lack of academic research (or any really good data) about community banking and its impact. It’s been very challenging to manage the demands of work, family, and school as well as difficult to adjust to the academic mindset. It feels good to be uncomfortable, to grow. Most of all, it feels good to be back in Stillwater! Go Pokes!

Culture isn’t a side project. It’s strategy. This week I’m with another ND NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association member, DRN, where CEO Kent Schimke is making a serious investment in shaping the kind of culture employees feel proud of—and customers can sense in every interaction. Pivot is so blessed to be able to help with this kind of work! Culture can be tricky—different teams, different histories, different ways of working. But when an organization steps back and intentionally shapes what it wants employees and customers to experience, that’s when the magic happens. That’s when culture turns from a poster on the wall into a competitive advantage. We’ve got two days of hands-on training, about 35 employees each day, and yes… some “wow moments” Kent himself dreamed up for his staff.
