Adam Symson shared thisAs we celebrate America at 250, I’d like to share an example of the best of what the American spirit can be. At WEWS-TV, The E.W. Scripps Company’s station in Cleveland, Ohio named after our founder, anchor and Lake County beat reporter Tracy Carloss got a text about Beverly Thomas, a 79-year old retired nurse who was facing misdemeanor charges and jail time for failing to keep up with her landscaping. Tracy’s reporting moved the Cleveland audience and strangers from across Northeast Ohio connected with each other to help—neighbors coming together for days of manual labor out of the generosity of their hearts. This happened because of local journalism. This happened because of a company dedicated to telling neighborhood stories. This happened because a dedicated reporter paid attention to her audience. And best of all, this happened because good and decent people are everywhere. Adam Symson liked thisAdam Symson liked thisStill trying to put this weekend into words. 💙 Four years ago, I came to WNBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago as a college player, just taking it all in and dreaming about what it would be like to one day be on that stage. Fast forward to now... being named an All-Star starter as a rookie, competing alongside so many players I've looked up to for years, and sharing the court with my amazing Lynx teammates was a true full-circle moment. Beyond basketball, what made this weekend so special was getting to meet so many incredible people who continue to push women's sports forward. Meeting President Obama (still processing that one 😅), then taking the court for a celeb 3-point contest with one of my favorites, Keke Palmer, and meeting all of the incredible fans at W-Live made for one of the coolest weekends of my life. None of this happens alone. It truly takes a village, and I'm so grateful for the people who show up for me every day. A special thank you to my styling team for helping me feel confident all weekend long: 🤍 Dianne Garcia 🤍 Abe Chávez 🤍 Illeisha Lussiano Thank you to my teammates, coaches, family, brand partners, and everyone who continues to believe in me and pour into my journey. Adam Symson liked thisThe way I was able to manage my career ambitions and raise my children was by bringing them close to my work. It gave me a source of pride to share it with them but also gave them a chance to demystify what it meant when mommy had to work. For those who worked with me during my career at the NHL and NLL, I know you remember seeing my children at work events...they were always with me. Now that my kids are older I love that the NWSL has a culture where our incredibly hard working team can share their work with their kids. Also, I miss having littles. Thank you Emily Hom for letting me hang with your amazing daughter!Adam Symson liked thisMy daughter has never been shy about telling me how much she hates when I travel for work. So this month, I brought her with me to a market visit instead of leaving her behind. She got to see what “Mommy’s work” actually looks like — not just the suitcase leaving the door, but the stadium, the fans, the why behind it all. San Diego Wave Fútbol Club made her feel so welcomed, and she watched the match from the best seat in the house: the Commissioner’s lap. I don’t take for granted that I work for a league that makes space for moments like this. Work-life integration gets talked about a lot, but this is what it actually looks like in practice — a workplace that lets you show up fully as a parent and a professional. They say it takes a village to raise a kid. Turns out mine includes an entire league. 💙⚽️

From the majority of the comments I saw on LinkedIn, they were all negative. Commenters who could not see how reorganizing the entire news process using technology and AI could change how local viewers receive and engage with local news. Doesn’t the idea of “reverse broadcasting” make complete sense today? One act of journalism. Multiple forms of immediate distribution. My phone doesn't wait until 6 p.m. to tell me something happened. Neither does The New York Times, CNN, Fox News, my local newspaper, Facebook, or most news organizations today. Is this transformation or is it really just cost-cutting? Or could this be the future of local news?
