Search for prospective clients using Business Development mode in RPS+

Last updated: 2 months ago

As a LinkedIn Recruiter Professional Services Plus (RPS+) customer, you can access Business Development mode, an additional mode in search, to search for prospective clients who are actively hiring.

Business Development mode is designed to support customers and recruiters who use LinkedIn Recruiter for client outreach and partnership development, in addition to hiring. By selecting the appropriate mode when you start a search, you receive a more relevant list of candidates and a streamlined experience.

Who can use this feature?

Only LinkedIn Recruiter Professional Services Plus (RPS+) users can use Business Development mode. If you don't have RPS+ and would like to learn more, you can contact our Sales team or read our guide on RPS+ for more information.

After you run a search, you can choose between two modes based on your outreach goal:

  • Recruiting mode helps you find candidates for your company or a client.
  • Business Development mode helps you to identify opportunities for expanding client outreach and engagement. When you switch to Business Development mode after running a search:
    • You can access Business Development-specific Spotlights that help you identify potential leads and improve targeting for business development by filtering directly within the Spotlights. Visit Spotlights in Recruiter, RPS+, and Recruiter Lite to learn more.
    • The intent of messaging outreach is updated in Business development mode, so you can drill down to potential leads who are the right fit for the roles you are interested in sourcing.

To select Business Development mode in search:

  1. Navigate to the Talent pool on the left pane of your project. Alternatively, you can use the global search bar at the top of your Recruiter homepage and select Search with filters from the dropdown.

  2. Enter the desired job title in the Job titles field. This helps narrow down your results to identify LinkedIn members with that title who are actively hiring.

    Here's a tip

Search for the job titles of the Hiring Managers and decision makers you are interested in engaging with as a potential lead. For example: “Software Engineering Manager.”

  3. At the top of the search results page, click the Business Development toggle. This aligns your search results with outreach goals and focuses on LinkedIn members who are actively hiring.

    Important to know

The search results are automatically sorted by the Actively Hiring spotlight, and the Business Development mode will remain enabled throughout your session in the current tab.

    Here's a tip

You can filter directly within the Actively Hiring spotlight dropdown to identify prospective leads who are actively hiring for a specific job. You can select the jobs by selecting employment type, location, and up to four job titles of the job post of members who are Actively Hiring. You can also use the other Business Development Spotlights to further improve your ability to target the right prospects faster.

  4. When you're ready to return to the standard AI-Assisted Search, click the Recruiting toggle.
