When a life-threatening emergency unfolded on a Florida beach, Courtney McMurray, RN, didn't hesitate to help. Last week, AWIN gathered at Wellpath for Wellness at Work: Mental Health Roundtables—a powerful morning that challenged us to think differently about wellness, leadership and the cultures we create for others. One of the conversations asked us to consider: What professional “armor” are we carrying—and what would it look like to replace that armor with stewardship? The pressure to always be available. To push through exhaustion. To postpone the doctor’s appointment. To keep our personal responsibilities invisible. To take care of everything and everyone before taking care of ourselves. Stewardship offers another way. It means protecting our health, establishing boundaries, asking for support and recognizing that caring for ourselves is not separate from effective leadership—it helps make effective leadership possible. Dr. Hall offered another powerful shift: moving from a checklist mindset to a presence mindset. Instead of measuring our days only by what we accomplish, she encouraged us to consider how we show up: • Start with gratitude. • Be intentional about becoming the best version of ourselves. • Practice time stewardship—not simply time management. • Choose responding over reacting. These conversations reinforced why Builds Effective Teams is one of AWIN’s leadership competencies. Strong teams aren't created by performance alone. They are built when leaders create environments of trust, belonging, communication and support—and when people know their well-being matters alongside the work they produce. Congratulations to Hillary Hanson, from Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility, VT. A dedicated member of the Marble Valley team since 2000, Hillary has spent more than two decades supporting the facility, wearing many hats, and ensuring operations run smoothly each day. She serves as a vital liaison with the Department of Corrections, coordinating and facilitating both onsite and offsite appointments, including specialty services such as optometry clinics and audiology testing. Hillary is also the friendly face and trusted voice representing Marble Valley to outside healthcare providers and clinics. She diligently tracks patient needs, monitors upcoming appointments, and manages updates to the mental health caseload, helping ensure patients receive the care and services they need. Her dedication, organization, and commitment make a tremendous impact on our team and the patients we serve. Hillary truly is a jack-of-all-trades, and Marble Valley would not be the same without her. Thank you, Hillary, for your years of service, hard work, and unwavering commitment to excellence!

Yesterday I finished my summer internship at Wellpath . I am very grateful to Katie Stone, Thomas Schaffer, Brett Arnold, Aisha Golliher, Jonathan Mosley, and Derek Terry for giving me the opportunity to do such meaningful work during my time! I also want to shout out my incredible fellow interns Louise Eubank , Peyton Playle , and Ashley Hurssey! During my time at Wellpath, I was able to strengthen my legal research skills while gaining valuable experience in healthcare and correctional law. I am thankful for the mentorship, guidance, and hands-on experience I received throughout my time. I look forward to carrying these skills and experiences with me throughout the remainder of my time at Belmont Law and my career!
