On this episode of Joshing Around Milwaukee, the Joshes sit down with Skylight Music Theatre’s Artistic Director, Michael Unger, to talk about upcoming productions, including Shakespeare’s classic comedy "A Rockin’ Midsummer Night’s Dream". Michael shares the meaningful origins of the show, which he began developing in collaboration with a father affected by the Sandy Hook tragedy. This high-energy, music-filled take reimagines the tale of love, magic, and mistaken identities with rock music, dynamic choreography, and a fresh, contemporary edge. 🔗 Tune into this episode or catch up on all your Joshing Around Milwaukee at https://lnkd.in/g7uktJTW or listen live to Joshing Around Milwaukee on Newsradio 620 WTMJ, on Saturdays at 1:30 p.m.

Today marks a meaningful milestone for Wisconsin’s visitor economy. 🚨 Governor Tony Evers has signed legislation into law that strengthens and modernizes the Opportunity Attraction and Promotion Fund, a bipartisan effort that builds on a program we know works and ensures it can work even better moving forward. We were proud to support this update because it reflects what we see every day: Tourism is a powerful economic driver, and when Wisconsin has the right tools in place, we can compete and win for high-impact opportunities that benefit communities across the state. This legislation enhances the current Opportunity Attraction and Promotion Fund by creating a more flexible, responsive model that allows us to move at the speed of opportunity. In a highly competitive landscape for major events, that change is critical. For meeting and event planners, this means greater partnership, stronger local support and increased resources behind bringing your event to Wisconsin. It allows destinations around the state - including ours - to be more competitive, more responsive and more invested in delivering successful, high-impact experiences. Moments like this don’t happen without collaboration! A huge thank you to Senator Patrick Testin and Representative Tony Kurtz for your leadership, to Governor Tony Evers and the administration, and to our partners at Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, Travel Wisconsin, Destinations Wisconsin, and the Association of Wisconsin Tourism Attractions for their continued commitment to bringing meetings and events to our communities. We’re also grateful to the many partners across the tourism spectrum who helped advocate for this important update. Check out our own Tony Snell Rodriguez, who was proud to stand alongside so many dedicated partners at today’s bill signing! We're excited for what this means for Milwaukee and communities across our beautiful state.

We're just going to step back and let Dotdash Meredith's Midwest Living do the talking, because.... we couldn't have said it better ourselves. 🥹 "They don't call Milwaukee the City of Festivals for nothing. Year-round, this lakefront destination throws a party—whether it's a cultural celebration, music fest, or neighborhood street bash, there's always something happening. And the fun doesn't stop when the band stops playing. Milwaukee Theater District lights up with world-class performances, including Broadway tours and cutting-edge local productions. The culinary scene hits just as hard, with legendary Friday fish fries, a steady stream of new openings, and a brewery culture that's both historic and innovative. And that Lake Michigan waterfront? Pure magic. Beyond renowned institutions like the Milwaukee Art Museum and Discovery World, the Milwaukee RiverWalk and Lake Michigan beaches offer the perfect backdrop for kayaking, strolling, or just soaking in those sunrise views. This town knows how to celebrate life—and you're invited." Proud to see Milwaukee in their 2026 best cities list! 💙 https://lnkd.in/gjnhepWf #Milwaukee #Theater #Dining #Festivals #Culture

Safety and security continue to be the top priorities for meeting planners worldwide, as stated in Business Travel Executive Magazine. This finding is reinforced by PCMA’s recent coverage of FCM Meetings & Events’ 2026 Global Trends Report. Nearly 79% of professionals rank safety and security as their primary concern when planning events. At the Baird Center, this insight reaffirms a decision we made well before opening our doors: to lead with innovation that protects and empowers our guests. From day one, the Wisconsin Center District’s leadership committed to being an industry frontrunner in creating secure, welcoming, and frictionless experiences for every attendee who walks through our doors. That’s why we invested in AI-driven screening technology at every entrance, which is a seamless solution that enhances safety without slowing down the energy and excitement of an event. Whether you’re bringing together 200 or 20,000 people, everyone deserves to feel confident and protected while they connect, learn, and celebrate together. As the meetings and convention industry evolves, it’s up to all of us to embrace smart, responsible innovation that prioritizes people first. At the Baird Center, safety isn’t a reaction; it’s part of our design. #PCMA #MeetingsAndEvents #EventSafety #Innovation #Leadership #Milwaukee #BairdCenter #EventTech https://lnkd.in/gy_bJqZf

Some events could happen anywhere. This isn’t one of them. THANALYSIS LIVE at the Riverside Theater was Milwaukee at full volume. Gorgeous, historic venue. Unpredictable concept. A crowd that’s all the way in. And the lineup? Unhinged. Ric Flair. Thanasis Antetokounmpo. Flame-thrower Jacob Misiorowski. America's favorite baseball manager Pat Murphy. That’s NBA, MLB, and pro wrestling all sharing one stage. In any other city? Chaos. Here, it works. Because Milwaukee shows up for bold ideas, big personalities, and nights you can’t recreate anywhere else. Milwaukee’s in its flavor era. And this is exactly what that looks like.
