  • UIC was proud to participate as a sponsor and exhibitor at this week’s NY SMART I-Corridor Semiconductor Summit in Upstate New York. Luis Casado, MBA, Andrew Bonacci, Andrew Cotraccia, and Tom Viola represented UIC at our exhibitor table, building new buyer and supplier connections while engaging with leaders across industry, academia, and government. Throughout the event, we attended presentations from university researchers, industry experts, and organizations like GO SEMI and NY Creates, all focused on advancing the region’s semiconductor ecosystem. Discussions highlighted both the opportunities ahead and key challenges around funding, workforce, and energy needed to support growth. We were honored to support the event through our sponsorship, helping create a collaborative environment for meaningful conversations and partnerships! One clear takeaway: there are strong resources available to support growth, and while the NY SMART I-Corridor does not yet include Binghamton, the momentum suggests that will evolve over time. We are excited to continue building connections and exploring opportunities in this rapidly expanding space!

  • Brian Oliver, Shane Nunes, Brad Bennet, and Rob Dykema had a fantastic time representing UIC yesterday at the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce’s 29th Annual Chamber Classic Golf Tournament at The Links at Hiawatha Landing. Events like the Chamber Classic are about much more than a great round of golf. They’re about building connections that strengthen our local community. It’s an opportunity to engage with fellow business leaders, support the Chamber’s ongoing efforts, and invest in the growth and success of the Greater Binghamton region. Thank you to the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce for hosting another great event!

  • Welcome to the team, Andrew!

I am pleased to announce that I have accepted an offer to join Tom Viola's team at Universal Instruments Corporation as a Senior Purchasing Manager. This unique role aligns perfectly with my background, allowing me to leverage both my engineering and procurement experience to support the New Product Introduction (NPI) teams. After an insightful transition period over the last seven months, I am incredibly excited to hit the ground running and contribute to Universal's continued growth. An active job search truly underscores the value of a strong community, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who offered support, shared opportunities, and reconnected with me along the way. I want to extend a special thank you to a few key individuals who went above and beyond: • Barb Smith: For your invaluable mentorship, resume guidance, and steady encouragement throughout this process. • Shrikant Kalegaonkar For providing critical insights, strategic perspective, and unwavering emotional support over these past seven months. • Archana Kalegaonkar: For your expertise in helping me optimize my LinkedIn profile and effectively navigate networking on the platform. • Jason Hanna: For your steady emotional support and camaraderie as we both successfully navigated our respective career changes. To everyone who shared job postings, offered company insights, or just lent an empathetic ear during this transition—thank you. I would love to pay this support forward. If you are currently navigating a career change or looking to connect within the procurement and engineering space, please reach out. I am more than happy to help however I can. Sincerely, Andrew

  • Proud moment for our Rochester team last week as we took part in the United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes #DayofCaring. Our crew rolled up their sleeves at a Heritage Christian Services home in Ogden, NY, handling spring clean‑up tasks from weeding and lawn care to mulch refresh. We’re thankful for the chance to support our neighbors and help keep our community vibrant and beautiful.
