Same post I made on instagram, so if you read it there.... I just got back from taking TYPTI to RacquetX in Fort Lauderdale and cannot describe what a spectacular experience it was. If an industry wants to grow, there is nothing better than near proximity physical engagement. While we have a lot at tournaments, they’re always mired in the distractions of matches and players. The Open is the greatest thing in the world, but you’re either at the site or in the city. If you’re in the city, there are a bazillion different places where people go. If you’re at the site, 1% of the people are in the industry and 99% are fans. If you want to meet with (4) people spontaneously, (3) will have credentials to get in one area and one won’t. It’s not ideal for ideation, and it’s hard to accidentally run into people to stimulate magic. Until this week, I wouldn’t have appreciated the value of getting everyone in the same room at the same time, and in all of my years of many businesses, I’ve never been in a more purposeful relationship environment than this year’s RacquetX. Every handshake was attached to someone who wanted to add TYPTI to their club, wanted to buy racquets or wanted to run a tournament or league. It was amazing for us and when you get lots of shots on goal… we were delivering things that facilities need so we made mutually beneficial relationships. Also from an educational experience, taking one lap around the show room floor is a tremendous learning experience because you see first-hand who’s spending and investing, and who isn’t. You see who showed up, but gave a C-level effort as opposed to an A-level effort. You see what companies are smarter than the other 7 on their row because they did something so smart and sticky that people flocked to them. I saw dozens of people I hadn’t seen in forever and in those conversations, tremendous value was unlocked. I’m not a paid advocate and have no vested interest whatsoever in Racquetx … but I’m a huge advocate for the growth of racquet sports, and RacquetX should be a ‘must budget for’ for every major brand and organization next year. Kudos to all who put it on. And to those in the industry who didn’t go, you really missed out and need to go next year! #typti #racquetx RacquetX
