Rockstar's GTA 6 team is "frustrated and exhausted" according to internal reports. Morale is low after a build of the most anticipated game of all time got into a leaker's hands. The leaker is slowly dropping content and threatening to dump the entire game if Rockstar doesn't backtrack on their no physical copies policy. More on this https://lnkd.in/eeaRCfaZ

This one means a lot. TheGamer has published an exclusive interview with me about OpenNV, the open-source engineering project I am building to bring Fallout: New Vegas into OpenMW and create a path toward a complete, motion-controlled VR experience. This is not simply a visual mod or an asset conversion. It means teaching an open-source engine to understand Fallout’s world data, characters, rendering rules, animation, gameplay systems, and interactions, then rebuilding the missing pieces in a way that can be tested, extended, and shared. The interview also gave me an opportunity to connect the different chapters of my career: five years at Blizzard working on Hearthstone, leading software engineering organizations today, and now returning to deeply hands-on game and VR development through open source. The project is still early, but the central idea is working. New Vegas is loading and rendering in OpenMW. Fallout-specific systems are coming online. VR is being designed into the foundation rather than added as an afterthought. For me, OpenNV sits at the intersection of everything I enjoy about engineering: C++, rendering, reverse engineering, automation, asset pipelines, VR, and building systems that other developers can inspect and extend. Thank you to James Lucas and TheGamer for taking the project seriously and giving me the opportunity to tell the story behind the work. Chasing sales is a fast track to failure. That's the take from Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, director of The Witcher 3 and now leading Rebel Wolves on Blood of Dawnwalker. https://lnkd.in/eG2czciX
