May is Military Appreciation Month, and at Swift we’re proud to recognize the dedicated men and women on our team who have served. In our final spotlight of the series is Jaclyn Terry! Jaclyn served in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6). Today, she brings that experience to her role as a Project Manager, supporting her team and the mission. We connected with Jaclyn to reflect on her time in service, the lessons that shaped her, and how those experiences continue to influence her work today. What inspired you to join the military? I began working as an Army contractor at 19 while attending college full-time. Over the years, many of my colleagues spoke highly of the opportunities and benefits the Army offers—particularly in terms of career growth and educational support. Their experiences ultimately inspired me to enlist. How has your military experience shaped your life? My military service played a significant role in my personal and professional development. It instilled in me a strong sense of discipline, responsibility, and teamwork. I also developed leadership skills, confidence, and resilience that continue to guide me today. Professionally, I served as a 25B (Information Technology Specialist), and the technical skills I gained on active duty remain directly applicable in my current role. What advice do you have for those transitioning out of the military to civilian life? Transitioning to civilian life can be both a logistical and mental adjustment. I recommend starting the process early, identifying how your military experience translates to civilian careers, and actively building a professional network. It’s also important to prioritize your physical and mental well-being throughout the transition. Is there anyone from your military service that you would like to pay honor to? May is Military Appreciation Month, and at Swift we’re proud to recognize the dedicated men and women on our team who have served. Next up in our spotlight series is Jared Busby! Jared served in the U.S. Air Force, achieving the rank of Technical Sergeant (E-6), separating after 16 years of service as an Arabic Cryptological Linguist. Today, he brings that same sense of purpose and commitment to his role as a Program Manager, where he is passionate about supporting his team and accomplishing the mission. We connected with Jared to reflect on his time in service, the lessons that shaped him, and how those experiences continue to influence his work today. What inspired you to join the military? I was expecting my first child, and coming from a military family, I understood the benefits of service and was seeking direction after a year in college. I was planning on a six-year enlistment before returning to school, but 9/11 changed everything, and my role as a linguist became pivotal. How has your military experience shaped your life? My military intelligence experience and leadership skills I gained as an NCO laid the foundation for my career in contracting, and I’ve since earned two bachelor’s degrees and an MBA using the post-9/11 GI Bill. What advice do you have for those transitioning out of the military? Find something that matters, whether that is leadership, contributing to a cause, or being part of a team. Leverage the skills you developed, even if you don’t immediately recognize them. Is there anyone from your military service that you would like to honor? My friend Kyu Chay, a 3rd SFG Linguist killed in Afghanistan in 2006, and my grandfather, Al Voeller, who served in the Air Force during the Korean War, building a successful follow-on aerospace career.
