  • Eight years ago today, five Capital Gazette staff members — Gerald Fischman, Rob Hiaasen, John McNamara, Rebecca Smith and Wendi Winters — were murdered and others were wounded in the deadliest single attack on journalists in U.S. history. Today, we remember their lives, honor their legacy and reaffirm the importance of a free press. We will never forget. Press On.

  • When The Baltimore Sun launched its Business and Civic Hall of Fame in 2016, we set out to recognize leaders whose work was shaping Maryland in significant ways. Each year since, we have partnered with community leaders to identify individuals whose achievements across business, philanthropy, the arts and public service have strengthened the Baltimore region. Now in its 11th year, the Hall of Fame stands as a lasting tribute to the individuals whose work has shaped Baltimore and Maryland — not just today, but across decades. And it has become one of our modern-day traditions at The Sun, which celebrated its 189th anniversary last month. The 2026 class welcomes 13 people, bringing the total number of inductees to 135 since the Hall of Fame’s founding. They are builders of institutions, stewards of communities and leaders whose influence will be felt well beyond their lifetimes. More: https://bit.ly/4vzlnup 📸: Haldan Kirsch

  • We were proud to welcome the newspaper club from Western High School to The Baltimore Sun earlier this week. After sponsoring their student-run newspaper publication for the 2025-2026 school year, it was inspiring to host these talented young journalists for a behind-the-scenes look at our newsroom. From touring our offices to meaningful conversations with our reporters and business division, the time together was filled with thoughtful questions, shared experiences, and a passion for storytelling. We are honored to support the next generation of journalists.
