SMA commends President Trump and his Administration for today’s decisive actions to strengthen the Section 232 steel tariffs. By updating the valuation of steel-containing goods and refining the derivatives list, these measures close critical loopholes, restore fairness to the market, and reinforce the tariff’s intended purpose, supporting the revitalization of the American steel industry. A strong Section 232 framework remains vital to both our national and economic security. We appreciate the Administration’s continued commitment to pairing robust enforcement with thoughtful consideration of broader economic impacts. This balanced approach is essential to sustaining long-term growth and resilience across the manufacturing sector. https://lnkd.in/eDkWt--K

The Steel Manufacturers Association applauds the Trump Administration's approach to resetting the global trade agenda. Thank you U.S. Trade Representative, Ambassador Jamieson Greer for representing the United States at the WTO ministerial meeting in Cameroon. It is essential that we carefully evaluate what the future role of the WTO is and what it can and cannot accomplish. The SMA supports reforms that would enhance the WTO’s responsiveness to its Members and strengthen our collective ability to deliver outcomes that support mutually beneficial trading relationships. Much appreciation to the team at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative for their excellent work representing America's businesses, workers and economy.

Baseball is back — and fans are enjoying #OpeningDay games in ballparks made with American steel. A ballpark under construction in Las Vegas, the future home of the Athletics, will include steel of various kinds, including more than 4,000 tons of rebar from SMA member CMC.

Had the enormous opportunity to have lunch with representatives of the Mexican Delegation to the OECD - OCDE steel committee, Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, and U.S. Department of Commerce while in Paris. The lunch meeting was hosted by Secretariat of Economy (Economia) Undersecretary Luis Gutierrez. I enjoyed sharing ideas and exploring pathways to improve our steel trading relationship with Mexico. Thank you Deborah Alcocer Delano and CANACERO for organizing and being such gracious hosts. (From left to right): Philip K.
