Workforce fraud is not just a fake resume problem, a deepfake problem, a bad document problem, or a payroll problem. The fundamental issue is that hiring and employment workflows are fragmented. A candidate can move through everything from an Applicant Tracking System to a background check provider or even a payroll platform. Each step may run a useful check, but those checks often do not share the same identity context. That creates gaps where fraud can attack. A person can apply as one identity, interview as another, onboard with manipulated documents, receive access, enter payroll, and continue working under a different operator or arrangement. That's how HR's fake candidate becomes the CISO's insider threat. Point solutions help with individual moments. Persistent identity connects the full lifecycle. That is the shift workforce verification is designed for: not one more isolated check, but a shared identity layer across application, interview, onboarding, access, payroll, and post-hire activity. Public benefit agencies are entering a new era of oversight. H.R. 1 has reshaped expectations for programs like Medicaid and SNAP, requiring more frequent verification and tighter payment accuracy. Agencies face the challenge of complying with new regulations without creating unnecessary friction for eligible individuals or opening the door to bad actors. Join Socure and Government Technology this Wednesday, June 3 at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET, for a timely webinar on the impact of H.R. 1, featuring our public sector expert Will Kern and senior fellows from the Center for Digital Government, Dan Lohrmann and Jennifer Kent, Ph.D.. The panel will discuss how to: -Prepare for evolving federal requirements -Reduce payment error rates -Lower manual review volumes -Strengthen fraud prevention -Preserve access for vulnerable populations With identity at the forefront, government programs no longer have to choose between program integrity and reliable, efficient access to essential services. A driver's license. A selfie. Both look legitimate. But fraudsters know these 'static signals' only tell part of the story. -Injection attacks -Replay fraud These are the kind of manipulation a snapshot will never catch. That's why Socure DocV now includes session recording, giving fraud teams full verification context inside RiskOS to spot what the document alone can't show. This means more caught fraud, fewer manual reviews and faster, more confident decisions. Learn how session recording changes what your team can see → https://lnkd.in/dUiK66tQ

Consumers are lying. Not all of them. But more than you think, and they're getting better at it. First-party fraud isn't a credentials problem or an identity problem. It's a real person, with a real account, who has figured out exactly how to game the system. They've compared notes with others who got away with it. And then they came back. Your KYC passed them. Your ID verification passed them. Your fraud model didn't flag them. Because none of those tools were built for this. The organizations closing this gap aren't reacting to losses. They're seeing patterns across the broader digital economy before a bad actor ever reaches them. That's what Socure's First-Party Fraud Consortium was built to do. Swipe to see what the data says. Then let's talk.

Over the last 18 months, fraud has changed in ways I don’t think most companies fully appreciate yet. What used to be isolated attacks against individual businesses by rings of people piecing together attack strategies, has quickly become networks of systems using powerful infrastructure, social networks, AI, device and identity farms and increased automation and orchestration to attack many commercial and/or government entities at once, in a more systematic way. Fraud rings are using automation, AI-generated identities, disposable domains, free email providers, deepfakes, computer driven camera insertion and shared tooling to launch attacks across sectors at a speed that makes traditional fraud strategies feel even more reactive than previously One thing that stands out from our research is how little of this activity is actually isolated. The same underlying infrastructure players who enable fraud show up across financial services, lending, telecom, marketplaces, and government programs. The identities may change, but the underlying systems, behaviors, and operational patterns often don’t. That has implications for how we think about defense. If attackers are operating as connected networks, defenders probably can’t keep approaching fraud as a single-company problem. We need better ways to share intelligence, connect signals across ecosystems, and understand the infrastructure layer behind modern identity attacks. In other words, we need to dig deep and get closer to the bad guys, rather than stand back and defend ourselves from attacks. We are at war now with an adversary that has expanded the battelfield, more than most are aware at this point. I wrote about this shift, some of the research behind it, and why I think the industry needs a broader view of the battlefield. I’ll share the full post in the comments. Thanks to POLITICO for picking the blog up.

We're excited to announce our partnership with Prism Data, bringing best-in-class cash flow intelligence directly into RiskOS. For lenders, this means access to Prism's CashScore, a predictive analytics layer built from deposit-level signals, without adding new infrastructure or disrupting existing workflows. The result: a 30% predictive lift over traditional credit scores on average, and a path to approving more creditworthy borrowers who traditional data fails to see. But the announcement reflects something larger about how we think about building RiskOS®. The best decision isn't made with Socure data alone. It's made when the right signals from the right sources come together in one place, in real time.  That's why RiskOS is supported by an open ecosystem where best-in-class data partners like Prism Data integrate directly, so our customers can reach the most accurate decision possible without stitching together point solutions. Helping our customers make the best, most accurate decision is our north star. Welcome to the RiskOS Partner Ecosystem, Prism Data!
