Our amazing School Rabbi Avi Taff wrote so beautifully about our 8th graders’ trip to the East Coast. Yes, we were supposed to go to Israel, but as Rabbi Taff writes, the change in destination didn’t stop our students from having the experience of a lifetime. Thank you Yael Mashbaum and Avi Taff for envisioning and realizing this remarkable culminating trip for the SAA graduating Class of 2026. Read about it here in the Jewish Journal.

Written by SAA parent Jacki Karsh, this impactful and important piece in the Times of Israel speaks to the vitality of Jewish education and the harsh realities that we face as Jews and as a Jewish school and community. Most of all, it highlights that though the burdens and responsibilities we carry are significant, the hope, strength and moral compass we instill in our children is paramount. “We should live so deeply and so recognizably as Jews that no act of hatred gets the final word. We should build communities so thick with meaning that our children know exactly what they are part of.” Jacki Karsh

Sinai Akiba Academy’s Head of School Lauren Plant, Associate Head of School for Teaching & Learning Lauren Mangel Dolinka, and Director of Lower & Middle School Cherie Friedman spent this week at the Thrive National Association of Independent Schools Annual Conference…and enjoyed Seattle’s landmarks before their return to campus back in sunny LA.

SAA had the privilege of honoring Jessica and Brad Smiedt with th SAA Leadership Award and Jonah Platt with the Alumni Award at this past weekend’s SAA Masquerade Ball. This stunning affair would not have been possible without the dedication and vision of our stellar Advancement Team, Gala Co-Chairs Stacey Jasper and Shaina Simhaee, and Auction Committee Chair Jenny Taban. More pics and updates to come!

💙Thanks so much to Director of Finance and Operations Elham Makabi and the entire Sinai Akiba team for graciously inviting Executive Director Scarlett Vanyi, CAE to attend Sinai Akiba Academy’s State of the School ceremony!✨The ceremony featured a fireside chat with the entire SAA Executive Team in which they were interviewed and shared the role of their departments, celebrated recent successes, announced new facilities and programs, and answered questions submitted by parents.🎤The well-attended celebration was meaningful and beautifully conducted, complete with an elegant reception spread featuring many traditional Jewish dishes, an inspiring greeting from the board president, an arrangement performed by SAA’s student musicians, a Hebrew song for all in attendance led by the cantor, and a powerful message from the head of school.🌟 🤩Elham treated Scarlett to a whirlwind after-hours tour of the school’s iconic Wilshire Boulevard property following the event, including the stunning Sinai Temple, where scenes from Netflix’s recent hit series Nobody Wants This were filmed.🕍🎬 Thanks again to Elham and the whole Sinai Akiba Academy team for their generous hospitality!🙏
