As childhood vaccination rates decline, health care professionals continue to play an important role in helping families make informed decisions based on trusted medical guidance. Scripps Clinic pediatrician Gurinder Dabhia, MD, spoke with CBS 8 about the importance of childhood vaccinations and encouraged parents to discuss questions with their doctor. This weekend, Scripps Health joined the Eric Paredes Save A Life Foundation for a day focused on youth heart health, early detection and emergency preparedness. The event screened 665 young people and identified previously unknown heart abnormalities in six students. Four were found to be at risk of sudden cardiac arrest, giving their families important information to help make informed decisions about next steps. Along with free heart screenings, participants learned hands-only CPR and how to use an AED. Scripps cardiologist Dr. John Rogers helped lead the effort, while Scripps Health President and CEO Chris Van Gorder joined participants and volunteers at the event. Thank you to the volunteers and community partners who helped make this important work possible.
