Humans have nurtured crops and relied on animals for food, clothing, transportation, companionship, and recreation for thousands of years. The Farm at The Schiele explores the ever-changing relationships between people, plants, and animals on local farms in the Piedmont region - in the past and today. Visitors can tour an authentic historical farmhouse, discover crops that thrive in our region, and meet their favorite farm animals every day. The Farm is included with the purchase of admission. Thank you to Gaston County Farm Bureau for their support of agriculture education and The Farm. #NationalAgricultureDay

Something BIG has been unboxed at The Schiele. Another piece of the future Elizabeth Williams Robinson Hall of Dinosaurs was recently revealed to the public. Meet...the Gastonia! Gastonia burgei was an herbivorous ankylosaurian dinosaur, named for amateur paleontologist, Rob Gaston. Thanks to a generous donation from Jami Farris, Bryan Farris, Jackson Farris, and Wynn Farris, it has a new home worthy of its name. The Gastonia is located in an alcove outside of the ESC learning space, and will become a permanent preview and wayfinder for visitors heading toward the Hall. Watch as the space is transformed over the next several months into a rocky slope under the Gastonia's feet.
