    The number of times I've heard an early-stage founder say, "We can build the drone {or insert any technology area}," has made me think we are often asking the wrong question. The question is rarely whether the first unit can be built. U.S. defense officials told the AP that stocks of advanced missile interceptors in Europe are "beyond critical." Story in the comments. The question is whether we can build everything behind it: the critical materials, specialized components, propulsion, manufacturing capacity, testing infrastructure, logistics, field support, and replenishment needed to turn a product into a capable effect. The prototype is the beginning. Sustained deployment is the test. Success gets measured in capable effects delivered. A working system in the right place, on the right network, with the reloads to keep it operating. That layer underneath the drone is why we spend our year building two rooms.
