About us

Heritage of Pride is a not-for-profit corporation that organizes LGBTQIA+ events in New York City to commemorate and celebrate the Stonewall riots. These events are organized for and on behalf of all LGBTQIA+ individuals and groups, and all others who support the struggle for the liberation of these communities. In the spirit of Stonewall, Heritage of Pride welcomes the participation of all, regardless of age, creed, gender, gender identification, HIV status, national origin, physical, mental or developmental ability, race, religion or sexual origin. Founded in 1984, Heritage of Pride took over the planning New York City Pride events from the disbanded Christopher Street Liberation Day Committee, former organizers of the March and Rally, and the Christopher Street Festival Committee, the former organizers of the Festival. While HOP's individual members set broad group policy, the organization is governed by a 14 person Executive Board elected by its membership. NYC Pride hosted WorldPride June 1 - 30, 2019 for the 50th anniversary of Stonewall.

  • Each year, NYC Pride works with a wide variety of partners across industries to bring our events to life. From large sponsorships to in-kind contributions, every partner is essential - and there are still a few opportunities to get involved and help make Pride possible this year. 🏳️🤝 Check out our wishlist below 👇 learn more here: nycpride.org/partnerships and reach out to partnerships@nycpride.org if you can help! 💧 our celebration of LGBTQIA+ youth and their allies, Youth Pride, still needs a hydration partner to provide water to attendees, talent, and volunteers 🎪 Youth Pride also needs a variety of carnival games, like bag and bottle tosses 🌮 two sections of our street festival PrideFest, FoodFest and FamilyFest, still need partner support! 🧋 all of our events need non-alcoholic beverages like soda, lemonade, and tea to keep our 1K+ volunteers, board, staff, talent, and partners cool ☕ our staff & volunteers are hard at work in the sprint to Pride Weekend, and we're looking for a coffee partner to keep them caffeinated 🏨 it’s a busy summer in NYC, and there’s still a need for hotel partners to help us accommodate VIP guests, talent, and out-of-town visitors for Pride festivities

Thrilled to celebrate and share that Gays Against Guns, a pro bono client, has been named the fifth and final Grand Marshal of the 2026 New York City Pride March - the world's largest, longest-running LGBTQIA+ demonstration. A sincere thanks to HERITAGE OF PRIDE | NYC Pride for this great honor, which marks ten years since the group's formation, its first appearance at the March, and of course, the mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando on June 12, 2016. Gays Against Guns has worked tirelessly for a decade to raise awareness about gun violence, and its disproportionate impact on the LGBTQ community - especially trans people of color - and to fight for change. I feel very lucky that I have been with them every step of the way, with the partnership of a network of counsel nationwide. Congratulations, GAG - and can't wait to see you up front at the March in June.

  • Thank you to the incredible partners who joined us at Soho House last Friday for an intimate evening of connection and celebration. As we look ahead to the 2026 NYC Pride season, we are deeply grateful for their continued partnership and commitment to uplifting LGBTQIA+ communities. Their support helps ensure that Pride remains not only a moment of celebration, but a year-round investment in visibility, advocacy, and safe spaces -- for all of us.

Tonight NGLCCNY - National LGBTQ+ and Allied Chamber of Commerce New York and HERITAGE OF PRIDE | NYC Pride joined forces to professionally network across NYC’s nonprofit, small business, corporate, and municipal communities. Thank you to the exceptional staff of LGBT owned-and-operated VERS bar who provided space and hospitality as consummate host to our two networked organizations with speciality cocktails that shared revenue to help keep Pride accessible to New Yorkers. This incredible nightlife establishment was filled to the brim with invested professionals, business owners, and leaders. We even had a special activation with our very own Ed Roth of Stencil1 who showed attendees how to DIY their own Pride 2026 swag! We encourage you to shop it queer with our local businesses when planning to show up and show out in June! To sum the evening in four words? Our hearts are full. #LGBTQBusiness #SmallBusiness #Entrepreneurship #Networking #Leadership #SupplierDiversity #EconomicDevelopment #NewYorkCity #Pride #ShopQueer #Nonprofit
