So proud to represent the The NCCU Graduate School alongside my fellow MPA peers at the NC General Assembly for Graduate Education Day! Representation matters, and we had the opportunity to sit down with Senator Natalie Murdock, Representative Zack Hawkins, and Representative Marcia Morey to share how North Carolina can truly break barriers for graduate students. Advanced degrees should lead straight into high-impact careers. Thank you to our leadership for taking the time to listen, engage, and invest in the future of public service!
Congratulations, Isaiah Fisher-Smith, MPA! https://lnkd.in/eJ5r4mnn
With gratitude and appreciation, I am excited to announce I have completed my Master of Public Administration program. I am grateful for the relationships I cultivated throughout the NCCU Public Administration program. My roles as ICMA Student Chapter President and Vice President of GAPA were vital to my growth as a leader. I am proud to join such a powerful alumni network as an eagle!
Among our many amazing Spring 2026 MPA Graduates, check out this profile of Executive Master of Public Administration Lisa Rider by NCCU news. "“I only applied to NCCU,” she said. “It was the only university that aligned with who I am and what I value. Educational access, leadership, civil rights and public purpose." ... “At this point in my career, I wanted a program that puts all the pieces in one opportunity,” Rider said. “Budgeting, strategic planning and organizational leadership.” And that, said Christopher Paul, Ph.D., is exactly what the executive MPA program at NCCU offers. “The MPA as a whole is intended to prepare students for public service and meeting community needs,” said Paul, an associate professor and chair of the public administration program. https://lnkd.in/eqFRjkCC
Especially proud of our twenty nine Spring 2026 MPA graduates!

They tell you to "shrink" when your plate gets full. They say it’s too late to go back, too hard to lead, and impossible to excel at it all simultaneously. But I’ve learned that when you are a legacy builder, your plate doesn't get smaller, your capacity gets bigger. Today, I am officially a Double Eagle (B.S. ’10, M.P.A. ’26). I mastered it! This degree is more than a credential; it is a testament to the quiet late nights, the early mornings before the "9-to-5" began, and the "in-between" moments spent running a nonprofit, showing up for community families, and serving as GAPA President. I want to extend a sincere thank you to the NCCU Public Administration . The faculty and my peers provided an environment that challenged my perspective and sharpened my leadership, proving that public service is a calling that requires both heart and high-level strategy. Thank you, S. Nicole Diggs Christopher Paul José Luis Irizarry, Ph.D. Ta'Keyah M. Holder, MPA Navigating this journey as a single mother, full-time professional, and community advocate wasn't easy. There were days I felt I was pouring from an empty cup, but my village, and my daughter, Skylar, always found a way to fill it back up. God, I thank you. Skylar, thank you for being my rock. To my village: thank you for seeing me and always having my back. I love you all. I am officially in my "Exactly Who I Think I Am" era. I refuse to be shrunk. I am here to change the world for those coming behind me. Next stop: The future. 🦅✨

Today marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. I’m proud to officially graduate with my Master of Public Administration (MPA) from an HBCU that has challenged, developed, and prepared me for change-making leadership. I’m grateful to my professors and mentors who poured knowledge, wisdom, and encouragement into every lesson. Thank you for pushing us to think critically, ask the right questions, remain teachable, and strive for excellence in and beyond the classroom. The NCCU Public Administration program did more than prepare capable professionals, it produced leaders committed to service, integrity, and impact. The journey continues, and I’m excited for what’s ahead. #MPA #Graduation #HBCU #PublicAdministration #Leadership
