Most companies start hiring when the pain is already unbearable. When: • Your top performer is stretched thin • Founders are back in execution • Customers are waiting By that point, you're already behind. Strong hiring doesn’t start when the req opens. It starts when you see the inflection coming. The most effective teams do one thing differently: They begin talking to candidates before they “officially” need them. Not interviewing, not committing. Just starting conversations. When employers can directly connect with candidates instead of waiting for inbound applications, hiring becomes proactive instead of reactive. If you’re 30–60 days out from needing someone critical, that’s your window. The earlier you start the conversation, the more leverage you have.
