  • Most patients assume that choosing an in-network hospital means their care will be covered. It's not that simple — and the gap between credentialing, privileging, and payer enrollment is why. Our VP of Marketing Lauren Mitri Abalos breaks it down in her latest piece, drawing on her own experience navigating the bills behind two deliveries. Worth a read whether you've lived this as a patient or work in healthcare operations.👇

I posted last week about navigating women's healthcare as a mom. Turns out I'm not alone. Families doing everything right and still ending up on the phone with insurance and billing departments weeks after coming home with a newborn. So I wrote the follow-up. Four bills for one hospital stay. Two more for one pediatric ED visit. And the thing nobody explains — how credentialing, privileging, and enrollment actually work, and why roughly 1 in 5 families who deliver at an in-network hospital still end up with an out-of-network bill. • This is the conversation healthcare needs to be having. Appreciate Blake and the Hospitalogy team for the opportunity to surface it.

The average timeline from provider hire to billable runs 90 to 120 days. In some cases, it's closer to 180. During that holding pattern, the provider is present within the organization but unable to see a single patient or generate a single dollar. It’s this path to “provider readiness” - the point where a provider is credentialed, enrolled, and operational - that I wanted to dig into further with the team at Medallion because they’re working to address this operational paradox. • What does “not yet operational” actually mean for health systems, patients, and overburdened clinicians? • Why does only 12% of automation investment currently touch credentialing or enrollment? • How is Medallion solving this problem? When you have the full picture, including the operational impacts and the financial constraints, you realize the industry must stop treating provider readiness as an administrative issue. It deserves a seat at the CFO's table. Written in collaboration with Medallion but, as always, 100% my thoughts. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/gUK3xH6m

Love this, such a strong example of how operational innovation directly impacts patient care! Anything that helps providers get in-network faster and reduces administrative burden is a win for both teams and patients. Excited to see continued progress in this space at 👏

Great partnerships are built on shared commitment — and our work with Ivy Rehab Network is a strong example of what’s possible when operational teams and technology work together to support provider growth at scale. As Ivy Rehab expanded across 700+ clinics nationwide, the team needed a more streamlined approach to provider onboarding and enrollment that could keep pace with growth while improving visibility and reducing administrative complexity. Together, we built a process that supports provider readiness more efficiently — helping providers get set up faster so they can focus on delivering care. We’re proud to partner with organizations like Ivy Rehab that are investing in better experiences for providers, operations teams, and patients alike. A special thank you to Jennifer Urlaub and Ashley Griffiths for sharing more about the collaboration and what this partnership has made possible. It takes a village to scale high-quality patient care (especially when that village lives in a complex web of regulatory entities and antiquated processes). Medallion has been with CareBridge since the early days and continues to evolve with us as we scale at a blistering pace, helping us cut through the administrative noise of provider credentialing so that our care teams can focus on our members and not the paperwork. It was a blast to join Medallion's Customer Kick Off and hear the exciting innovations coming down the pike. Looking forward to watching the continued impact this team will drive!

Scaling a clinical workforce across multiple states is hard. Credentialing every provider before they can see a single patient makes it harder. CareBridge found a smarter way. Instead of letting credentialing become a core operational burden, they partnered with Medallion — keeping providers visit-ready, patients cared for, and likely avoiding ~50% in operational costs along the way. "Being able to get our providers visit-ready and use them to the top of their license is essential for us." — Steven Shterenberg M.D., MBA, SVP of Operations & Clinical Care Strategy at CareBridge. 1 in 10 women who give birth in the U.S. receive a surprise out-of-network bill. Half of all counties nationwide have no OB-GYN at all. This Women's Health Month, our VP of Marketing Lauren Mitri Abalos shares why these numbers are personal — and why fixing healthcare's administrative infrastructure is a women's health issue. When WellBe Senior Medical set out to scale a 500+ clinician network across seven states, their credentialing process couldn't keep up. Providers were waiting 30 days to get credentialed — 30 days before they could see a single patient. After switching to Medallion, that number dropped to six. The team now has full visibility into their pipeline, can cross-license providers across states, and has the operational foundation to keep growing. "It's unbelievable compared to where we were before." — Josh Aubey, JD, CPA, CIA, CFE, CHC, Compliance & Privacy Officer. A big thank you to our wonderful customers at WellBe Senior Medical for sharing their perspective and experience. The full story is worth a read 👇 https://lnkd.in/gq8rHCJZ
