My strong advice to everyone in town is to get behind this movement. We are moving at 10x the speed if anyone in town. Get. On. The. Bus. Read about all of the amazing things the Massachusetts AI Coalition is cranking on. Warp speed.
State of the Union (30 Days In): The Massachusetts AI Coalition is about action. We identified problems in our tech community months ago and have been executing on solutions ever since. Here is our first 30 days update fo the tech community. The 250+ Founders and Operators in the AI Coalition are in the arena building 24/7/365 in our day jobs at 50+ AI companies in Massachusetts, and volunteering on this effort after hours (like the Founding Fathers did). GOAL 1: START HERE. STAY HERE. Increase the # of early startups that start here and stay here 1. Beacon (0-->1): The Founder Starter Pack went live today: https://lnkd.in/e5xP6v5K. If you build here in Massachusetts, you have the opportunity to apply to get access to free GPUs, free office space, intros to Founders & Operators, exclusive events, tech deals. About 10-20% of applicants will receive these benefits to start. And yes, fast, flexible capital is also a focus. We believe these will be compelling offers that help founders and our Angel Network is already 300+ strong. 2. Causeway (Builder Infra): We're working through paperwork to pull in our first physical building in town to leverage for founders. We will open a second location to retrain the workforce. We have many tech partnerships forming for our founders. And we’re starting to lock in sponsors for some MAJOR marquee annual events. 3. Common (Community Support): We continue to focus on YC alumni and future YC hopefuls in the Commonwealth. We’ve also launched our first two vertical communities around (1) Hard Tech (2) Healthtech. GOAL TWO: SCALE HERE Help growth & public companies scale and add more jobs. 4. Team leads are executing with the fires of a thousand suns right now. 5. We're officially creating the AI District in Boston today. It is a necessary step in our Vision for Massachusetts 2035. Final details of official district lines will be announced on July 4, 2026, the 250th anniversary of our nation. What an epic year it's shaping up to be. This is not an April Fools joke.

Education is the next frontier of AI innovation. Imagine a school where kids are more excited to learn than to go on vacation. That's the future Joe Liemandt and Michael Horn challenged us to consider at last night's Alpha School, 𝗔𝗜 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 event at WHOOP HQ. It was a night of incredible conversations and insights. One theme came up again and again: engagement and motivation is the real bottleneck. 90% of the work is keeping students motivated, while only 10% is about delivering lessons at the right level. And interestingly, the biggest motivator may not be better content or more gamification, it’s giving students their time back. AI has the potential to accelerate learning so students can spend less time on rote work and more time on learning other life skills. But the discussion didn’t shy away from the hard questions. How do students build grit in a system optimized for efficiency? Who decides what an AI-driven curriculum should teach? Can we really balance top-down standards with truly personalized, bottom-up learning? And if direct instruction becomes faster and more efficient, where does curiosity fit in? This shift also redefines the role of teachers. Instead of primarily delivering content, they become motivators and mentors, focused on building personal connections and holding students to high standards. Learning becomes more adaptive, more personalized, and more “closed-loop,” but the human element becomes even more important, not less. One idea that stood out: the key to student happiness and success isn’t lowering expectations, but raising them, while giving students the support and autonomy to work on hard problems alongside their friends. If AI can give students their time back, the real question becomes: What should they do with it? States are already competing to define what education looks like in the age of AI. These are the kinds of conversations we need more of across the Commonwealth. And we're just getting started. If you care about where Massachusetts goes from here, join us at the next event.

WHOOP $575M Raise Is a $10 Billion Signal: World-Class Companies Are Built in Massachusetts What better first article to post on the Massachusetts AI Coalition Boston News Network, which launches TODAY, coinciding with Massachusetts's next Decacorn and Founding Chair of the AI Coalition: WHOOP. The Boston News Network will become the defining place for Boston Tech News. In the future, we will be publishing content ourselves on key stories from the AI Coalition ecosystem AND syndicating new Boston-area voices. Read the article to dig in, and get ready for a new place to read/watch/listen to everything Boston tech. And stay tuned for more... going to be a hell of a year. When WHOOP announced a $575 million fundraise at a $10.1 billion valuation on Tuesday, it wasn't just a milestone for the Kenmore Square-based health tech company — it was a statement about what's possible when you build in Massachusetts. The round, led by Collaborative Fund with participation from the Qatar Investment Authority, Foundry, the Mayo Clinic, LeBron James, and Cristiano Ronaldo, marks the largest venture capital deal of the year for a Massachusetts-based startup. And it comes at a great time for the state, on the surge of the Mass AI Coalition's 200+ private sector volunteer effort to help Massachusetts lead in AI. Full house tonight for the Alpha School: AI and the Reinvention of Education event, happening RIGHT NOW! A mix of educators, entrepreneurs, researchers, and parents, all coming together to explore what may be one of the most talked-about schools in the country right now. What role will AI play in education? What will AI in education look like beyond chatbots? What does it look like to redesign the school day? Excited to hear all that Joe Liemandt and Michael Horn have to share 🙌

As my old friend, Mr. Harvey Dent, once said: "The night is darkest just before the dawn. And I promise you, the dawn is coming." We will give the people A Vision for Massachusetts. The plan they desire. And we will execute on that plan. We will continue to identify problems, but most importantly, we will build solutions. We will continue to lead from the front as founders, operators, investors, students, and supporters. We will not talk. We will drive action. With the 200+ leaders from the Massachusetts AI Coalition, we will make Massachusetts the best place to live/work/play/build. There will come a time for us act and help with some of the more serious matters like housing, education, and transportation. Today, we must build the foundation to drive that action. And we will connect the Commonwealth in the process. The dawn is coming.
