Healthy reefs start with healthy waters. Congratulations to Lynker's Bernardo Vargas Angel, co-author of NOAA's newly published Ridge to Reef Water Quality Monitoring Plan for the U.S. Virgin Islands. The plan provides a framework for tracking water quality and protecting the coral reef ecosystems vital to the U.S. Virgin Islands. Proud to have Lynker represented at the recent ribbon-cutting for the newly rebuilt NOAA Pier Romeo in Charleston, SC, adjacent to the NOAA Office for Coastal Management. This pier's return to service is a story of collaboration. Once transferred from NOAA's Office for Coastal Management (OCM) back to the Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO), the pier was rebuilt and returned to active service—now the permanent home berth for NOAA Ships Nancy Foster and Ronald Brown. Lynker is especially proud of the role our COO, Michael Silah, played in the earliest stages of this effort. Seeing that groundwork culminate in a fully restored pier and a ship homeport at last is exactly the kind of long-term impact we strive for. Congratulations to everyone at NOAA, OMAO, and OCM who made this milestone possible. Rear Admiral Michael J. Silah, NOAA (Ret.)
