  • Kettering Health recently partnered with the Cincinnati Bengals to hold another Flag in School event. The program, operated by the Bengals and presented locally by Kettering Health, is designed to help physical education teachers build a foundation of healthy, lifelong physical activity for their students. Last week’s event was at Ridgeway Elementary where one hundred students grades three to six, were selected by their principal based on academic performance and behavior to join the Bengals for an energetic and enthusiastic day. The players taught the students passing, catching, and agility before everyone played a game of flag football with the free kits the school received through the program. Thank you to everyone who made this day special for these students and for fostering a love of physical activity in all of them!

  • Sharing advice and guidance from experienced nurses is one of the most effective ways to help new nurses and nursing students adjust to their roles and prepare for their careers. Kettering Health nurses Erin Soto and Kristen Gosnell recently took time to share pieces of advice they wish they had known when starting their nursing careers with the goal of helping new and aspiring nurses better prepare for a demanding yet fulfilling profession.

  • This month, the Health at Work podcast welcomed Barbara Mills, co-founder of Gala of Hope Foundation, for a conversation about how the nonprofit became such a powerful force in supporting cancer patients and advancing cancer research across the Dayton region, as well as the strong foundation of clinical excellence that makes Dayton an ideal environment for impactful philanthropy. “Healthcare is expensive, and cancer is expensive,” Barbara shares in the episode. “So, if you get cancer, it puts financial stress on you and your family. Gala of Hope helps keep people from falling into that [financial] abyss, and we also invest in local health systems to support the cancer research and cutting-edge technology being developed by those doing truly great work in this community. We are so lucky to live here.” Health at Work is a podcast produced in partnership with Kettering Health and the Dayton Business Journal. Each month, co-hosts Jimmy Phillips, Chief Strategy Officer at Kettering Health (right), and Cory Earl, Market President and Publisher of the Dayton Business Journal (left), sit down with local leaders to explore the challenges, opportunities, and trends impacting our region’s health, workforce, and business success. The episode is out now on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. 🎙️: https://lnkd.in/gaunjNja

  • Through a new partnership scholarship program, Kettering Health and Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine are awarding full-tuition scholarships for the fall and spring terms to 23 medical students: 10 fourth-year students who have matched into Kettering Health residency programs and 13 first-year students from the Dayton region. Dr. Shaen Harvey, system chief medical officer at Kettering Health, surprised a few of the fourth-year medical students last week on an unexpected video call! Congratulations to each of the recipients! 🎉

  • Kettering Health and Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine have launched a new partnership scholarship program designed to reduce financial barriers for medical students, strengthen the physician workforce, and improve health outcomes across Ohio, particularly in the Dayton region and other underserved communities. A total of 23 medical students will receive full-tuition scholarship awards for the fall and spring terms. Recipients include 10 fourth-year medical students who matched into Kettering Health residency programs for 2026, as well as 13 first-year medical students from the greater Dayton region. “This is more than a scholarship program—it is a shared investment in the future of health care in Ohio,” said Ohio University President Lori Stewart Gonzalez. “Together, we are supporting students who will go on to improve health outcomes and serve communities across Southwest Ohio for years to come.” The scholarship program is part of a broader collaboration between Ohio University and Kettering Health to address rising medical education costs and growing physician workforce shortages, particularly in primary care and high-need specialties. “This program reflects our shared commitment to developing the next generation of physicians who will care for our communities,” said R. Shaen Harvey, M.D., system chief medical officer at Kettering Health. “By supporting students from the Dayton region and those training within our system, we are strengthening our ability to recruit and retain talented physicians where they are needed most.”
