Inspiring leaders from the American Arbitration Association (AAA) recently went on camera to read founder Frances Kellor’s words as the AAA hit its 100th milestone. It’s one thing to talk about what an organization does, but hearing these leaders share Kellor’s vision and what it still means moves the focus to “why we matter.” (Watch the full video at the link in the comments. ) Congratulations to the AAA on a century of resolution and continuing to shape the future of justice and neutrality. We’re honored to have the privilege of helping to tell your story. #AAA100 #FrancesKellor #Arbitration #HistoryFactory

When Gilbert Baker created the first Pride flag in 1978, he chose not to register or trademark the design. “A true flag is torn from the soul of the people,” he said. “A flag is something that everyone owns and that's why they work.” The rainbow flag was designed not only to belong to everyone but also to evolve. When fabric shortages made the hot pink that was part of Baker’s original design too difficult to source, the flag adapted. When the community sought to explicitly center trans individuals and people of color, more adaptations followed. This month, when we see the rainbow flag displayed to support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, let’s also celebrate Baker’s foresight and generosity in creating one of the world’s most recognized symbols. #PrideMonth #CorporateHeritage #LGBTQHistory #HistoryFactory

Gold stars like these can be found in the archives of many organizations, appearing on honor rolls in newsletters and magazines and on memorial plaques. Each gold star represents someone who left behind their home, family and career to serve their country and made the ultimate sacrifice. The tradition traces back to World War I, when families displayed service flags with blue stars to signify loved ones on active duty. If a service member was killed, they replaced the blue star with a gold one—the nation’s highest symbol of sacrifice. Organizations soon adopted the practice as well, often preserving not only the names but also the stories of those who gave their lives in service. This Memorial Day, we honor the generations of service members represented by these gold stars—and the responsibility we all share to preserve their legacies and the meaning of their sacrifice. #MemorialDay #HistoryFactory

When organizations prioritize only the newest and most immediately applicable data, AI systems can lack the deeper context that creates meaning. In our latest blog, Senior Director of Archives Chris Juhasz explores AI context gaps—and why archival thinking is critical for today’s knowledge management and improving the accuracy, continuity and interpretation of data. AI is only as powerful as the data behind it. And for many organizations, some of the most valuable data they own is untapped. Too often the historical records and institutional memory that define organizations are offline or not structured in a way AI can understand. Those who can access these insights, however, are gaining a strategic advantage. For more than 45 years, History Factory has helped the world’s leading organizations turn their inventories of experience into better results. Today, we’re applying our archival expertise to help enterprises prepare their historical assets and other proprietary data for AI platforms. Our team of experts can identify high-quality assets, digitize archival materials, structure assets with metadata and more, as well as validate information so AI systems can deliver trusted, authoritative insights. Turn your history into fuel for your AI platform—and your organization’s future. Want to know more about the process? “The more intelligent and data rich we get, the more illiterate we become.” Despite access to AI tools that deliver endless analytics, content and data in seconds, organizations lose their competitive edge when they can’t put that information in context. The context they need often lives out of AI’s reach in historical documents, personal experiences or unformatted information. Jason Dressel recently sat down with Daniel Nestle to discuss the advantage of institutional memory, what it takes to activate it and how History Factory designed our new AI tool Chroniqle™ to deliver that all important context. Listen in today at “The Trending Communicator” podcast. “The organizations that are going to continue to win are going to not only be the ones who understand how to deploy these tools in the most effective way, but they’re going to be the organizations that … don’t lose sight of understanding really who they are, why they exist, what has made them successful.” #AI #TrendingCommunicator #HistoryFactory #Chroniqle
All the hubbub around AI-driven layoffs makes me wonder if enterprise leadership and Boards really understand what the phrase "trade-off" means. They're spending millions chasing "AI Transformation" while laying off the experienced people who know how to oil the gears of corporate progress. They're trading institutional memory for the promise of a productivity paradise. My hypothesis: companies cutting experienced workers loose under the AI-productivity banner will hit a moment when they realize the institutional memory and collective wisdom they just laid off can't be reconstructed by a chatbot. The rehiring scramble will be public, expensive, and embarrassing. That's the "Big Oopsie." Jason Dressel and I went deep on it. Jason is CEO of History Factory. He came up inside the company, learned the craft from its founder, and eventually succeeded him. He just launched Chroniqle, an AI platform that turns corporate archives into live, citable enterprise intelligence. Fortune 500s are already in beta. Listen in and hear about: → Why "history" is the wrong word, and what changes when you swap it for "experience" → Sameness at scale, and how AI is accelerating commoditization → Why ripping out expertise to make room for AI is the most short-sighted move leaders can make → How Chroniqle structures archival data differently than an internal ChatGPT → What 175-year-old companies understand that hyper-growth darlings still don't New episode of The Trending Communicator: The AI-Enabled Archivist and the End of Corporate Amnesia - with Jason Dressel. Wherever you get your podcasts.
