  • #tbt to when Superintendent Amy Cashwell hopped behind the wheel of one of our school buses at our "Drive the Bus" event in 2021 — now it's your turn! 🚌 Henrico Schools is hosting "Drive the Bus" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, at HCPS' Parham Road offices (1910 E. Parham Road). This is an opportunity for those interested in becoming HCPS bus drivers to take the wheel and talk to representatives from our Pupil Transportation team about everything the career entails. Dr. Cashwell drove through the course and received firsthand experience of how our 400-plus drivers safely and efficiently transport more than 28,000 students to and from schools every single day. Not half bad! Interested participants (with valid Virginia driver’s licenses) should sign up for the “Drive the Bus” event at hcps.info/DriveTheBus2026. Qualified bus driver candidates will be paid during training. HCPS is a pay leader for bus drivers in central Virginia, with the starting salary for new bus drivers at over $25 an hour. Learn more about our positions with Transportation and other schools and departments across Henrico at https://lnkd.in/eZezx8Sr.

  • They don't wear capes — just aprons! — but they're heroes all the same! 💪👏 Happy School Lunch Hero Day to our School Nutrition Services staff members (such as these photographed at Harvie E.S. and Freeman H.S.!) and everyone who contributes to feeding and powering our students in school cafeterias every single day! • Let's get to WORK! 🤝👏 Congratulations to the 70+ soon-to-be graduates from HCPS' Class of 2026 who signed their contracts with their future employers on CTE Signing Day! With career paths ranging from firefighting to cosmetology to construction (and so much more!), all of these students put in the work to develop their career-ready and life-ready skills, and it paid off as they put pen to paper with local businesses and organizations who have experienced their abilities firsthand. Thank you to every business, organization and guest that joined us for this year's event — including Virginia Secretary of Education Jeffery Smith! • “We stay in Henrico because the talent we’ve seen here has been outstanding. And programs like this make that possible as well.” 🙌 Eaton visited the High Tech Academy at the ACE Center at Highland Springs on Friday to surprise the students and staff with a $10,000 donation to the program! The $10,000 gift, which is being provided through a partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, will be used to purchase supplies and resources to support STEM-focused students in the High Tech Academy, and to help inspire and prepare them for future careers in science, technology, engineering and math. “(Thinking about) the things that we can invest in and do that would be really amazing for (our students) — it’s just incredible,” teacher Allison Buschy said during the surprise presentation in her classroom. Eaton is a premier intelligent power management company with a long-standing and growing manufacturing presence in Virginia. Through local investment, employee involvement and long-standing collaborations, Eaton works to build skills, create opportunity and strengthen the communities where it operates. The company has three facilities in Henrico County and recently announced an investment of over $50 million in a new manufacturing campus in the area, reinforcing its commitment to the region and its future workforce. The company was among the employers on site at this year’s Henrico County Public Schools Workforce & Career Development Career Rodeo to watch hundreds of Henrico Schools students showcase their career-ready skills at Richmond Raceway. The annual exhibition not only helped make this donation a reality but also resulted in immediate opportunities — three seniors from the Electricity and Cabling program from the ACE Center at Highland Springs signed contracts at Wednesday’s CTE Letter-of-Intent Signing Day to join Eaton’s workforce after they graduate in May. THANK YOU to Eaton for this incredible investment into our students! You can read more about the donation and surprise visit on our website: https://lnkd.in/eiPdPgKH

  • We love seeing the extra love for our office staff today for Administrative Professionals Day! 😍 These administrative staff members were among those who contributed to our Support Staff Advisory Committee and gathered today for their final meeting of the year. Since the fall, they have been providing their thoughts and input to Superintendent Amy Cashwell to make Henrico Schools even better in our Journey to 2030. Our office and administrative staff are truly vital to the everyday operations of EVERY office and school throughout Henrico, and we're grateful for all they do!
