Exciting News for the Head Start Community! During the Head Start East Professional Development Conference this week, attendees took a moment to celebrate the exciting announcement that Lizbeth Casco White has been appointed as the new Director of the Office of Head Start (OHS) by the Administration for Children and Families. Our community was thrilled to hear the news, and conference participants from across the country joined together in wishing her success as she steps into this important leadership role. Director Casco White brings more than two decades of experience in early childhood policy, public administration, and community-based programs. Her work with Head Start programs and families — including leadership at the United Planning Organization and service with the Children’s Bureau and the D.C. Office of the State Superintendent of Education — reflects a deep understanding of the impact Head Start has on children, families, and communities. With nearly 700,000 children and families served across the country each year, Head Start continues to play a vital role in strengthening communities and supporting early childhood development. From all of us gathered at Head Start East, we extend our congratulations to Director Casco White and look forward to the continued growth and impact of Head Start under her leadership.
