  • An exciting release for Garner! A new study by Aon validates there is a better pathway forward to help reduce healthcare costs for employers. Employers using Garner saw a 7.4% reduction in medical spend—an average of $345 in savings per member, per year requiring no plan design changes. The Highlights: •Zero Disruption: These savings were achieved with no plan design changes and no network shifts. •Massive Efficiency Wins: For employees aged 19–29, spend moved from 6% above benchmark to 20% more efficient. •Proven ROI: Savings were driven by helping members find the highest-quality doctors within their existing networks. At Garner, we believe you shouldn't have to choose between happy employees and a healthy bottom line. Read more about the findings here: https://lnkd.in/eemk9pEX

For most employees, the First Dollar of their deductible is a barrier. For their employers, that same dollar is often the start of a much more expensive problem. Traditional HSAs were designed to lower premiums and make employees “shoppers." But in reality, when an employee is responsible for that first dollar, they often end up shopping on price alone, rather than on value. Join our upcoming session to unpack the ripple effect this has for employees who see low-quality care and for employers whose high-cost claims impact their bottom line. Title: The First Dollar Problem: What Employers Need to Know to Make HSAs Work  📅 Date: Tuesday, April 7th  ⏰ Time: 1:00pm ET | 10:00 am PT Register now and save your seat! https://lnkd.in/eT69TEYD

  • This week in stunning Coronado, CA we brought together some of the brightest minds in healthcare at the third Garner Strategic Benefits Summit. We were fortunate to hear from experts Dr. Asima Ahmad, Lee Lewis, Kerry Finnegan, Jennifer James, Molly Strader Fruit, Erica Hedberg, Jude Bill, and Ross Campbell who shared insights and new perspectives – like how to leverage data-driven strategies to improve employee health outcomes while managing rising costs. Beyond the sessions, attendees connected in unique ways, from paddling along the Pacific to exploring Coronado island’s rich history, or simply recharging at the spa. It was a week full of conversation, collaboration, and actionable ideas to move the industry forward. Thank you to everyone who joined us. The momentum continues, and we can’t wait for what’s next. • GLP-1s and specialty drugs now account for over 50% of employer Rx spend. It’s not just the drug prices either. There’s a complex web of distorted incentives and hidden factors that make pharmacy one of the biggest drivers of healthcare costs overall. Join us for a live session where we’ll share new Garner data that reveals: • How distorted financial incentives for PBMs drive up costs. • Why GLP-1s are shifting the entire pharmacy landscape. • How to manage Rx spend without compromising employee care. Stop guessing at the "why" behind rising renewals and start seeing the data. Save your seat here: https://lnkd.in/gUFT6EQY

  • In case you missed it, we have a new episode of Margin of Care. In this conversation, Kirk sits down with Dr. Asima Ahmad, MD, MPH, FACOG, DABOM, Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer at Carrot, to talk about how employers should be thinking about fertility, menopause, and lifelong hormonal health support. One of the biggest takeaways: many people assume fertility care automatically means IVF. Dr. Ahmad explains why that is not always the case. With the right education and guidance early on, people can better understand their options, plan ahead, and in many cases explore paths that may help them avoid more intensive treatment. For employers and advisors, this is a powerful reminder that access to information and support can change outcomes just as much as access to care itself. Recently we just dropped a new episode of Margin of Care featuring Dr. Asima Ahmad, MD, MPH, FACOG, DABOM, Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer at Carrot. One of the moments in this conversation that stuck with me most was how deeply personal and emotional the fertility journey can be. For many people, the stress and uncertainty can feel overwhelming, and they often go through it without a strong support system in place. Dr. Ahmad shares why clinical care alone is not enough. Education, emotional support, and guidance matter just as much, especially when people are navigating some of the hardest decisions of their lives. It’s an important reminder that benefits are not just about access. They are about helping people feel informed, supported, and less alone. 🎧 Listen to the full conversation here:   https://lnkd.in/egn7E4DW

Back in 2009, Nick Reber went to see a doctor at a big New York hospital, for help with persistent pain in his back. When the doctor recommended surgery in his mid-back, he underwent the procedure. But he later learned that the real problem was higher up, in the cervical spine. When that first surgery resulted in complications, he had another one—ultimately undergoing four surgeries on his back. “I was misdiagnosed and mistreated,” he told Forbes. “I probably needed between zero and one [surgeries]. I live with a bunch of back pain and it’s a big part of my life.” The experience was eye-opening for Reber, a data guy who worked then as co-head of research analytics at hedge fund Bridgewater Associates. So he did what any researcher does: He started reading up on healthcare policy and economics. He eventually came to believe that if he’d only found a better doctor, he could have saved years of pain and several thousands dollars in medical bills beyond what his insurance covered. He realized that if data like complication rates and hospital readmissions could find the best physicians, it should be able to reduce overall cost, too. That’s the idea behind Garner Health, which Reber founded in 2019. Keep reading: https://lnkd.in/gGMcp5de (Photo: Garner Health)
