Ford recently honored racing and business legend Roger Penske with its Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating a monumental career that has shaped the entire automotive retail and motorsport world. Roger Penske is a racing legend – but he’s also an exceptional businessman. By the mid-1960s, he was a top national driver. He then faced a choice: keep racing or buy his first car dealership. He chose the dealership and built a brand-new legacy. He built his businesses guided by a simple phrase his father taught him: “Effort equals results.” That mindset became the foundation of one of the most respected dealer organizations in the industry and an inspiration to generations of dealers who followed his example of putting the customer first. And instead of leaving racing totally behind, Roger shifted gears. He launched Team Penske and became a hands-on owner. He ran his race team with the exact same focus and drive he brought to his growing businesses. Our longtime partnership with Roger spans everything from his NASCAR Ford Mustangs to his sizable retail networks, and we are proud of all we have built together. His impact reaches far beyond motorsports. His commitment to Detroit and Michigan runs deep. He anchored his global Penske Corporation in Oakland County, championed Detroit’s Q-Line, revived local manufacturing through Detroit Diesel, chaired the 2006 Super Bowl host committee at the special request of Bill Ford, and funds major civic, transit, and homeless outreach initiatives. Congratulations, Roger! Ford, Detroit, and the entire auto industry are better because of your lifelong dedication.   

Some leaders follow trends. Rhett Ricart sets them.   Ford is proud to honor Rhett Ricart, owner and executive chairman of Ricart Automotive Group, with our Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating decades of leadership and innovation.    Long before mobile service, welcome centers, and Ford Pro Elite concepts became the industry standard, Rhett was already leading the way. Putting customers first always has been Rhett’s core philosophy. He introduced dealership welcome centers in the 1980s and launched mobile service long before others considered it possible.    Rhett has always been a steady leader for the industry. As NADA chairman in 2020, he helped dealers nationwide navigate one of the most disruptive periods in decades. No playbook existed for what COVID threw at the industry but Rhett led anyway, calmly and clearly.   Leadership comes naturally to him, a trait passed down from his father, Paul Ricart Sr., who founded Ricart Ford in 1953 on the rule you never ask others to do what you haven’t done. Paul washed cars and worked every role in the business before he ever led it, earning trust rather than assuming it. Rhett and his brother Fred carried that same principle when they took ownership in 1982.   Today, Ricart Automotive employs more than 600 people and sells thousands of vehicles a year. Yet, Rhett takes the most pride in a simple truth – his door is always open. Employees know they can walk up to him directly. Customers are confident they'll get a straight answer. Decades later, Rhett still runs the growing business on the values his father taught him.   Congratulations, Rhett, on this well-deserved honor.
