Last week, I had the best time supporting Beauty Is the Experience (BITE), an event hosted by Indie Beauty Media Group that brought together 300+ retailers, founders, influencers, and beauty leaders. ✨ Some highlights from the day: 🌟 Meeting Emerging Brands I loved connecting with innovators who are truly shifting the industry. From Fountain of Waters, a brand redefining hydration-driven beauty, to blinger®, a beauty accessory brand bringing a playful, nostalgic twist to hair gems, to Cool as a Cucumber, a Wharton-founded skincare brand making waves with its refreshing, clean formulas for acne-prone adults. 👀 What Stood Out ↔️ Lashes are having a major moment (Pink Rabbit and TAD Beauty, Inc. stood out) ↔️ K-beauty continues to shine! I was especially impressed by LAPCOS's collagen mask and ESW Beauty's Liquid Death collaboration ↔️Beauty accessories are on the rise — excited to see ZVYK’s newest charm edition 👩💼 Learning from Industry Leaders I had the chance to shadow Tamara Sedmak and Jane Carlson, Managing Editor at Beauty Independent, and hear their perspective on emerging innovations, industry challenges, and evolving trends. I also attended a fantastic panel on building your C-suite, moderated by Elana Drell Szyfer, where Melisse Shaban emphasized the importance of giving equity not just to senior leaders but also to middle management, something that resonated with me as it underscores how vital it is to recognize and reward the leaders who are closest to day-to-day execution. 💡 Fun Fact From Sweetums product development research: cinnamon bun is the scent that most arouses men, while cucumber is the scent that most arouses women. Isn’t fragrance science fascinating?
