Facing a critical shortage of skilled healthcare workers, Evanston Hospital put out the call for the help, and our community answered. Partnering with Evanston Township High School (ETHS), Oakton College and others, we've created a strong pipeline that trains local students and provides them with well-paying jobs that allow them to give back to their community. We are incredibly honored to receive the 2025 Catalyst Award alongside our dedicated clinical, educational and philanthropic partners who made this possible. From the very beginning, she has made a lasting impression through her consistently positive attitude, strong work ethic and genuine dedication to both her patients and colleagues. Every time I have the opportunity to work alongside Hanneli, I feel incredibly grateful. She is the kind of nurse everyone hopes to have on their shift. Someone who is always willing to step in, lend a hand and support the team without hesitation. She never says no when someone is in need and her reliability is something we all deeply value. I was caring for a Level One trauma patient and was tied up one-on-one for several hours. Without me even asking, Hanneli stepped in and took it upon herself to watch over my other patients. She ensured they were cared for, medicated them when needed, collected labs and made sure everyone was comfortable and not overlooked during a very busy and critical time. There are so many moments in this job where I’ve wished for an extra set of hands but with Hanneli by my side, she is always that support when I need it most. What truly sets Hanneli apart is not only her teamwork, but the compassionate care she provides to every patient she encounters. She treats each individual with kindness, empathy and respect, ensuring they feel seen, heard and cared for during what is often a stressful and vulnerable time. Did you know that 1 in 26 of people in the U.S. will develop epilepsy in their lifetime and about 1% of children under age 18 has a diagnosis of this neurological disorder of the brain? That’s over 300,000 children. Pediatric Neurologist and Epileptologist Takijah Heard, MD, spoke to dozens of clinicians with Ivy Rehab for Kids in Libertyville on “Epilepsy through the Ages: Pediatric Epilepsy”. With improved clinician communication for continuity of care and better patient outcomes in mind, Dr. Heard spoke to common pediatric epilepsy presentations by age and the various treatment options. She also noted complex health needs of pediatric patients and the nuances in recognizing epilepsy in the clinical setting. Dr. Heard is Director of Pediatric Neurophysiology at Endeavor Health Neurosciences Institute, and Assistant Professor at University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She sees her pediatric patients in Lincolnshire and Wilmette. #OurEndeavor

Sports Neurologist Erik Beltran, MD, discussed recent research on concussion care as part of an Athletico University event in Libertyville. A dozen clinicians dialogued with the concussion specialist about the impact of concussion in athletes and best practices for an active recovery and exercise as medicine.
