This week, we wrapped up the three-part Learning Collaborative series with the final session, Initial Employer Outreach, bringing together providers supporting employment-focused recovery for individuals with substance use disorders. The session featured a fireside-style conversation between Amy Miller,SHRM-SCP and Marisela Bobo of Michigan Fidelity Assistance Support Team, offering systems-level perspective and practical guidance on building authentic, values-based relationships with employers. Participants then engaged in a role-play exercise, practicing initial outreach using core principles of clarity, curiosity, and brevity, and reflecting on strategies to balance genuine conversation with concise communication. What if the most powerful tool for suicide prevention training isn't a classroom or a manual, but a headset? The Orlando VA Healthcare System is finding out. CVP is proud to support the Department of Veterans Affairs in piloting an immersive, Fifer-powered virtual reality training program designed to equip VA staff with the skills and confidence to recognize and respond to Veterans who may be at risk for suicide. The training puts participants in a virtual medical center, talking to a Veteran exhibiting signs of emotional distress. The trainee must listen actively, build rapport, and choose how to respond while receiving real-time AI coaching and feedback. By combining immersive scenarios with AI-driven guidance, this program creates a safe space to build critical skills before they're needed in real-world settings. Participant feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and OVAHCS has already recommended expanding the program with additional scenarios across clinical settings. Unchecked AI spend follows a predictable pattern: adoption outruns oversight and by the time finance asks the hard questions, the answer is uncomfortable. The good news is that spiraling AI costs are preventable. Today, Chief AI Officer Cal Zemelman is sharing six lessons that have helped CVP and our clients get the most out of AI without breaking the bank. 1 | Right-size models to the mission: Not every task warrants a frontier model. Choose the right model to cut costs without sacrificing quality. 2 | Let AI route itself: For environments where use cases vary widely, a machine learning based router can send each request to the appropriate model for you. 3 | Make spend visible: Users and leaders can’t manage what they can’t see. Transparency at the individual, team, and agency level changes behavior fast. 4 | Set hard and soft budget guardrails: Friendly warnings before a limit is hit + Hard stops when it is = No surprise overages at the end of the month. 5 | Role-based model access: Not every user needs access to every model. Governance is just as important in AI as it is anywhere else in your technology stack. 6 | Run your own inference (when it makes sense): For the right workloads, on-premise GPU infrastructure brings the cost per token down to nearly zero after the initial investment. A legitimate Microsoft login page just handed attackers full control of a federal Outlook account. No malware. No suspicious link. Just a device code. Here’s what your security team needs to know right now: · Device code phishing is actively targeting government networks, bypassing MFA entirely by abusing a legitimate Microsoft authentication flow · Attackers gain full Outlook account access and can blast phishing emails to nearly 1,000 contacts from a trusted .gov address · AI infrastructure generates dynamic codes the moment a user clicks, eliminating the 15-minute expiration window that previously limited this attack ·  A separate XWorm RAT v7.2 campaign is exploiting CVE-2018-0802 to deliver fileless malware via process hollowing into a trusted Windows process · XWorm provides attackers with over 50 plugins for credential theft, keylogging, ransomware deployment, and full remote system control The threat landscape is moving fast.
