As we head into the weekend, we’re reminded of last Saturday’s incredible Hurricanes’ Stanley Cup celebration. What an incredible day of community and connection! Also a “shout out” to our own Mad Dawg from 94.7 QDR and Sammy from 96.1 BBB for covering the event as only live and local broadcasters can. Here’s to continuing to savor the Canes’ Stanley Cup good vibes all summer long!

It’s New Music Friday, brought to you by Curtis Media’s 94.7 QDR! Today we’re sharing the sounds of up-and-coming country music artist Belles as she performs “Son of Jolene,” her brand new song that was inspired by Dolly Parton’s classic single. When Dolly heard “Son of Jolene,” she had such instant appreciation for the song that she offered to collaborate with Belles on a cut of the track. And we’d suggest that the end result is nothing less than country music magic! Here’s a “shout out” to Belles and her team for stopping by the studio to share her artistry and her story. We can’t wait to hear more from this rising talent! #947QDR #Belles #SonofJolene #DollyParton

CHRISTY BRITTAIN NAMED AFTERNOON PERSONALITY OF 96.1 WBBB, CURTIS MEDIA GROUP RALEIGH RALEIGH, NC (June 10, 2026) – 96.1 WBBB today announced the addition of veteran broadcaster Christy Brittain as the station's new Afternoon Personality, bringing decades of radio experience, passion for music, and a genuine connection with listeners to the Triangle's home for Adult Hits for Today’s Carolina. A Tennessee native, Brittain began her radio career at just 17 years old and has since built an impressive broadcasting resume that includes stops in Greensboro-Winston Salem, Raleigh, Riverside-San Bernardino, and other markets across the country. Throughout her career, she has excelled in a variety of dayparts including middays, afternoons, and nights while also lending her voice to commercial and voice-over projects for clients nationwide. "I was 17 years old when the radio bug hit me," said Christy, “and I still love doing it." Beyond her broadcasting career, Brittain has worked as a paraeducator supporting autistic preschoolers, reflecting her passion for serving others and making a positive impact in the community. She is also an avid dog lover, a dedicated music enthusiast, and enjoys discovering new artists and genres. "We are thrilled to welcome Christy to the 96.1 BBB team," said Sammy Simpson, Program Director of 96.1 WBBB. "Her experience, authenticity, and passion for connecting with listeners make her a perfect fit for us. Christy understands what great radio is all about, creating meaningful relationships with audiences while delivering entertaining, engaging content every day." In her new role, Brittain will host 96.1 BBB's afternoon drive program, connecting listeners with the music that moves them while bringing her personality, energy, and storytelling to one of the station's most important dayparts. "I couldn't be more excited to join 96.1 BBB and reconnect with listeners in North Carolina," Brittain added. "Radio has always been about companionship and community, and I look forward to spending afternoons with the incredible people of the Triangle." 96.1 WBBB, a heritage brand in the Raleigh-Durham market, continues to be a trusted and beloved voice for music lovers across the Triangle. The addition of Brittain reinforces the station's commitment to delivering exceptional content, supporting local community initiatives, and creating unforgettable listening experiences.

The Curtis Media family is still aglow after our recent induction into the NC Media & Journalism Hall of Fame. Thank you to all who had a voice in bestowing this honor upon our team. The Curtis Media family also gratefully acknowledges every listener and local business owner who has placed their trust in our team during the past six decades. We are also most thankful and appreciative for the scores of radio and marketing professionals who have made—and continue to make—live and local broadcasting an integral part their cities, towns, of local communities. You never know who (or what!) will show up in the visitor’s parking lot at Curtis Media! And… boy, oh boy, did we consider ourselves fortunate when the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile and their incredible team stopped by while cruising through the Triangle! Check out the smiles and the fun. Plus, bonus points if you can sing the Oscar Meyer jingle! (Ah-h-h, the power of an ad jingle!) If we can write an ad jingle for your own company and help you to beam it across the Tar Heel airwaves, please know that we’re up for the challenge! #curtismediagroup #weinermobile #liveandlocalradio #digitalmarketing
