The older I become, the brighter my life gets.' - Yayoi Kusama   We remember the great Yayoi Kusama (1929–2026), whose work has inspired and captivated generations of art lovers around the world.   Cleveland was honored to host "Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors" in 2018, providing an unforgettable sensory journey through the mind and legacy of one of the world's most significant artists. The exhibition was one of the highest attended in the museum's history.   Thank you for everything, Yayoi. 🕊️

What happens when you place a Jewish ritual spice container in the middle of a Korean art gallery? This question and similar like it have sparked The Jewish Museum of New York to begin to quietly lend Jewish ceremonial art works to museums across the country. Their request? Don't hide them in a gallery dedicated exclusively to Jewish art. Place these object in context with their history and region as pieces of art - regardless of religion. Our pilot program University Fellows took place this past June with educators hailing from institutions across Northeast Ohio. The goal of the week-long intensive program was to provide participating faculty with the knowledge and skills needed to confidently integrate strategies for teaching with works of art in standard classroom curriculum and instruction. Each educator left with newfound insights, exercises, and ideas to bring back to their classrooms. One educator closed the program stating, “The university fellows program was a great chance to learn more about the theories and practices of museum education, and I really valued the opportunity to meditate on what we learned in the gallery spaces. . . . This summer, the Cleveland Museum of Art welcomed 19 interns working in 12 different departments across the museum! From curation and conservation to publications, education, digital support services and more, each paid internship provided students with the opportunity to practice skills and knowledge gained in the classroom on projects essential to the work of their colleagues and the institution. Whether by designing engaging activities for summer education programs, ensuring the long-term health of the collection with objects conservation, expanding the scope of collection knowledge through rigorous object research, or contributing to the installation of the new ArtLens gallery, our summer interns had invaluable professional experiences that will serve them well in their future endeavors. We wish our interns luck as they continue their academic careers this fall!

The Cleveland Museum of Art will launch the first phase of a comprehensive restoration of the historic Fine Arts Garden from September 2026 to Summer 2027. Here’s what to know:   ✨ Throughout construction, the museum’s galleries, Ingalls Library and Museum Archives, Gartner Auditorium, dining facilities, public spaces, and parking garage will continue normal operations, and exhibitions and public programs will proceed as scheduled.    ⛲ The first scope focuses on the rehabilitation of the museum’s historical Zodiac Garden, including Chester Beach's Fountain of the Waters, along with the Mall and new east and west Ovals, flanking the mall area on the museum’s south campus.   🏛️ The second scope focuses on restoring the museum’s south terraces and rehabilitating the exterior of the museum’s original 1916 building.   📣 The museum’s annual Chalk Fest will pause in 2026, returning in 2027.   🎨  Families looking for a chalk-inspired experience are invited to attend the Chalk Party (Fiesta de Tiza) on September 6, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Community Arts Center.   “For nearly a century, the CMA’s Fine Arts Garden has been a place where people experience art, nature, architecture, and community together,” says William Griswold, director and president of the CMA. “This work ensures that one of Cleveland’s most beloved public landscapes remains beautiful, welcoming, and accessible for generations to come, while honoring the vision that first inspired its creation.” Click here for more information ➡️ https://bit.ly/3S9mOBF Read the story from cleveland.com ➡️ https://bit.ly/4wvnWO4 Thank you, Paris Wolfe!

Pintoricchio Magnified: An Immersive Conservation Experience is closing soon. This exhibition allows viewers to step into the conservation studio and get a behind-the-scenes look at the conservation treatment of Pintoricchio's "Virgin and Child." 🖼️ After nearly 50 years in storage and undergoing years of careful conservation, this work is now presented in an immersive gallery experience. Through this experience, visitors use their own movements to traverse the layers of the painting and its conservation treatment, examining changing details as if magnified under a microscope. These figures in Utagawa Hiroshige's print "Sudden Shower over Shin-Ōhashi Bridge and Atake, from the series One Hundred Famous Views of Edo," scurry across the bridge amid slanting sheets of rain. There is a beauty in the depiction of the atmospheric conditions, but we can't help but wonder what those figures are thinking as they race across the bridge. This week in Cleveland is forecasting grey skies and showers, but take a page out Hiroshige's print and scurry on over to the Cleveland Museum of Art to stay dry!
